Autumnflower, I guess you wanted the pot noodles because you make them up at work, but I make a syn free (almost) stir fry at home and heat it in the microwave at work and it is fab and so fast to make.

I'm a student, therefore cheap, quick and tasty night time snacks need to have a place in my cupboard :rotfl:

However, your stir-fry recipe does sound wonderful, and I have a packet of noodles in my stock ready to be used up, so may have it for tea this week :D
Do you have a B&M bargains near you?
they had the low fat super noodles for 20P a pkt last friday - in the southport branch:)

I live in Sheffield, and the choice of food shops is terrible without a car! The only place's we have in walking distance are; Waitrose (too expensive for a student budget), Sainsburys (only a central, it's not that big) and a Netto's (which I generally only get my fruit and veg from) the food isle in poundstretcher consists of tins of beans, tuna and pasta n' sauces :rotfl:

however, I just looked on the storefinder for B&M and apparently there is one in Meadowhall, so next time i'm there i'll have a good ol' look around. And there is going to be a Aldi opening up soon near where I live I think, so that will be better for the veg and my pocket I think!

I think I would go for these ones on the syn value front because the skinless one's are definately not very thick. Think they're a bit too high in syns, might see if sainsburys have some Be Good To Yourself sausages, or get some quorn ones. I'll see which are cheaper when I get there.

does this mean, because there was no butter in, & i used my own milk, it should be free?

No - 1.5syns is just for the packet (as per the Pasta n Sauces now). The milk as your HEa is extra as would the butter be. Most packets like these can be made solely with water ratehr than using your HEa on all the milk.

You can only substitute own brand products for CEREALS - all other products will be too different in syn values.

robpw - that's why wedding dress shops have seamstresses and you have several fittings after your dress comes in! They order the dress you want at the size you are right now (so worst case it fits!) and all dresses can be taken in (or out!) by up to 2 dress sizes. Mines due in end of April so I hope to have lost at least another stone by then though I'm struggling :(

Had a free cooked brekkie this morning and OH cooked a fab mushroom ristotto tonight though it did had some olive oil & wine in it :o We had a long walk along the canal though in between so that would have got rid of some of the chinese we had last night :o Tis not looking good for WI!

Hi all, I've just found this thread, it's very funny and informative :)

I'm new to SW and can't attend a class so i'm thinking about doing it online. Does anyone know what it's like to do it online and if it explains things well enough (because it all sounds quite complicated :o) Also, the 3 month fee is VERY expensive (cheapest deal: £59.95:eek:), it doesn't specify what you get for that so i'm not sure what to do, i'm wondering if I should join a class for £9.95 to get all the stuff and then just do it myself rather than pay that.

Any advice? Thanks in advance x

I am an online member as I work shifts so attending classes regularly would be tricky. Also all my work colleagues who do attend groups go to their local ones which aren't near me. I have joined initially for 3 months but will then go to a group if I need to.

Online is less supportive but I get support from here plus my workmates. You do get the books explaining it all plus searchable features for recipes/syn values. You also get reminded to wiegh-in each week and a little graph plots your progress.

That said I dont think you can beat a group if at all poss

  • Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me please. Is the Sainsburys 'Be Good to yourself' plain cottage cheese free on Green? I'm not sure which ones are classed as 'extra low fat'. Thanks in advance :)
