The benefits system has changed over the last couple of years regarding people with kids, so some people are on the old system and some on the new. It used to be one claim and one amount, now its like this......
the adult claims income support - mine is currently £57.45
then you claim seperately to the inland revunue (tax credits) for you children, the amount depends on the number of children and their ages.
Child benefit is claimed seperately and mot deducted from any off your benefits.
Also worth noting that you are allowed to earn £20 a week without it affecting your benefit.
hope this helps0 -
JSA for a couple is £88 per week, then you get child tax credit for the kids and child benefit. I actually think the amount is irrelevant. It is still far less than you would have if you were earning and you do cut your cloth accordingly.

And if you think its difficult for us to work out, I am still waiting for a decision from the benefits agency with regard to us being out of work in February!!!!!!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Did some quick maths and ended up with £261.21 per month, that can't be right
I've confused myself now..........:D I think I'll stick to the original amount for july seeing as we're already a week in, then re-calculate for august :rolleyes:Bulletproof0 -
Home from long journey. Agency called out of the blue and gave me an interview for tomorrow am, am only half qualified for it!!!so have to print off stuff for that, sort out interview suit, pack camping gear, print off stuff for other interview tuesday to prep(in my tent..will send b/f for long walk to shops I think for quiet time!!). This company had me do a written summary of experience (even tho they had cv), a 3 hour assessment inc.case study, and for final interview I have to pre-prepare a presentation on another case study. Wouldn't mind but it's only a bleedin' fixed contract, grr.... however am down to final 2!!
Anyway, back to budget. Need to take off £8 for 2 days work paid for food etc, erk. Campsite will be about £20, so need to keep b/f on tight budget. Think I'll try for £15 for food and cheap ciderHe is not getting to do shopping on his own-very Mr Troolike tendancies (texted me today to see if I thought he should buy a mountain bike for the weekend!!)
So that would be £17.50 each. Think its doable with all my freezer stuff for next week. Full report on Sunday night! (Spending report and did camping make me chuck him report!)
Had £109.69; £8 off is £101.69; aiming for £84.19 left on Monday.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
great to see you back...i'm sure you'll have the money left on monday....infact i think( as i look at my crystal ball) you will be successfull this month in completing your task....sounded like a fortune cookie there i think lol0

Hey Emmzi,
Just wanted to add my support - you are doing fantastically well - and I definitely am interested in how you are getting on every day.
Have a fab weekend - I'm very jealous. My OH doesn't seem to want to spend ANY time with me at the moment! Enjoy!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -

I think this could become a new phrase in the phrase dictionary. My OH is also displaying Mr Troolike tendancies!
He went to London for work, spent £25 and only managed to get a receipt for the tube and forgot to clock the mileage!!!!!!
Have a lovely weekend and I hope you get the sunshine and not the floods we had yesterday or you will be swimming in your tent.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

I would like to have a go at this. I lived at benefit for level nearly two years in a bid to pay off a small mortgage and get financially stable after a marital brakdown. It really paid off - the house is now mine and I was able to get a small cushion of savings. I am now doing some work to the house and would like to be very careful with other spending again.
At the time, a friend had calculated the amount for me. I was wondering if anyone could help?
I am a single parent with one teenage child. My bills are £246 per month regular plus another £50 per month equivilent as pay insurances policies, tv license , car tax annually. So roughly £300 per moth. However £111 of that is council tax which I wouldn't pay on benefits, so really £190 per month would need to be deducted.0
