Good morning everyone!
I hope that the regulars don't mind me starting the thread today, but I just wanted to let you all know that I'll be away for a couple of weeks.
We're off to France tomorrow, the hard way. NI to Scotland, then overnight in the north of England and then spend Sunday night with the in-laws in London. We'll finally get to our campsite on Sunday night. But it'll be worth it.If I keep saying that over and over again I might believe it.
I've managed, with the help of the children, to get the house sort of licked into shape so it won't be too much of a shambles to come back to. Not bad considering we only booked the holiday last Friday. The kids have come up trumps....They've helped so much and I'm really proud of them.:)
Anyway my OS day tomorrow will be sorting out the last bits of packing...putting the roof box on the car, making and freezing the meal for our first night in France, packing the picnic tea we'll have on the ferry, and more importantly getting to the ferry on time. Hopefully I'll have time to take a peek in here too.
As many of you know Gingham is away next week as well, so if you see any abusive or spam threads, please if you have a minute, take the time to report them to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
I may or may not get a chance to post tomorrow, but if I don't, I hope you all have a great couple of weeks.

moggins hugs- hope you can talk things out.

moggins i know that dss's seem to eat more if they are watching cartoons. does oh have an objection to this? perhaps you could let your dd watch tv while eating as it might encourage her to eat more? married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

Hiya Pink-Winged! Of course nobody minds that you start the thread! Have a fantastic time in France, say hello to London (my old home) on my behalf. I do hope you have airconditioning in your car though.
I've been asleep more or less continuously since about 2.00 pm yesterday...left w*** early as I looked awful/ dreadful/a mess and felt just as bad, and felt like that too. So here I am, wide awake and feeling much better except for a funny across the way pain in my back. I'm sure that's nothing though, probably a symptom of lying down for too long.
Moggins - oh dear Moggins, my heart goes out to you. You just want to do the right thing for everyone. It strikes me that this is possibly the stance your OH has too - he thinks that he is right, and possibly thinks that your approach is undermining him. It's not helpful that he won't budge on the parenting issue, but won't he listen if you talk to him about how this issue is driving a wedge between you and him? Maybe try and come up with some sort of action plan which incorporates both your strengths and styles? I don't mean to interfere, but I just wish I knew how to help, big hug to you.
MushyPeas - so that cow didn't get her own job after all. That's put her right on a few points then, eg that she shouldn't have been in the job in the first place and that management don't think that much of her. It sounds like this might be the start of the end of the situation, best of luck with whatever happens next.
OS today...urm....just had a bowl of porridge, does that count? Will see how I feel later, but I am definitely going into w***. They have a really stupid sickness policy which is anti "casual" sickness so I took yesterday out of my holiday entitlement. Their policy is that if you're ill for a day then you are in actual fact malingering - take three separate days "malingering" over a period of 12 months and you will get "the chat" and possibly discipline. However if you utterly take the p!ss and are brave enough to take two separate weeks off on the sick then that is alright, as you didn't have three different sickness occasions during the 12 month period. What a load of twaddle (and that is my professional HR opinion) - people take casual sickness either because they are sick, or because they hate the place so much they can't face it.
That's enough waffle for now, need a lie down again, so see you all later. Have a very happy Friday!

Morning Pink  Have a great holiday.
I don't envy you all that driving. Last year I (yes, me, not Mr TM) drove from Lancashire to Kent whee we collectedf friends, stayed o/n, then caught the eurostar to France, drove 1/2 way down and stayed o/n with friends and drove the next day almost to the Spanish border! Only stayed the 1 week too and I had Salmonella all week too  The trip home was even worseTis year, I'm going to try and book a last minute deal, flying, hotel etc so no cooking or driving for me!
Anyway, DS2 woke me at 5 and then I remembered I didn't put my mystery shopping job from yesterday online so had to do it now. I'm here with a cuppa amd DS2 is fast asleep on my pillowBeen a busy bee the last couple of days and haven't had a lot of time to read all the posts. I do want to send (((hugs))) to moggins though - I know where you're at, hun.
Today will be a general clear up day. I tried to sort out some paperwork last night and am at that stage where it's actually in better order, but as there is still a lot of recycling and shredding paperwork left around, the study still looks a mess.
I want to make some banana cakes today but I'll do them in the oven not the BM as I have enough for at least 3 cakes and I'll freeze them. My kitchen gets very little direct sun anyway so the heat isn't a problem particularly. Had a sort out of CC's, store cards and bank accounts last night and have several that need closing today. Must get round to binning a lot of my MS paperwork too. They say keep for 3 months, I still have all mine from when I started ..... 3 years agoI'll go to the recycling place when I pick DS2 up from pre-school today.
Ok. I'm off for a mooch whilst I drink me cuppa. Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone
Gearing up for another 12 hours here at work. The other girl's off so I've got a double shift. I keep saying think of the money, but it's only another £20 or so and I'm so wiped out
I'm off all next week thankfully.:j But working all next weekend at the 999 Weekend in Eastbourne.
Came in this morning to find the music playout system crashed and another station's jingles and music going out:mad:  So the first half hour of my day was spent playing out some music and sweepers instead of getting my work done:wall: :wall:
Going to my old school reunion on Sunday - will be so odd seeing people I've not seen in 11 years!
Well best poodle on I guess.
Hope everyone's ok and has great hols if they're off!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Hiya everybody,
Have a great holiday Ping Winged.and hope it's a relaxing one.
I haven't done anything exciting today. The usual chores. How I miss my job. Been sorting out my budget & paperwork. Ho Hum. Rang up the council today and we our plans have been approved & *the*letter should be sent out next week. Got my kitchen quotes back from the 2 cabinet makers I asked. One was $6000 & the other $9000 :eek: I was sort of hoping for about $5000. Back to the drawing board & will chase up some more next week.
I got my you know what's again today. Lucky me. Looks like I'm getting them every two weeks now. :j:mad: DH starts work at 10.30pm tonight so he'll probably hog the computer before he goes.
Snowy My kidney infection started off with funny pains in the back too. Keep an eye on it & don't ignore it like I did. You'll be sorry.
Scuzz Enjoy the re-union. We went to DH's last Saturday night. It was fun.
TM When you're finished your paperwork, will you do mine for me?
ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Sorted our picnic for the weekend last night. Thought I'd made a few flapjacks to go with it....complete disaster. For some odd reason I can cook most things okay, but flapjacks...forget it. Seems daft really, but hey.
I may try and think of something else. Possibly some cookies.
Had a great night's sleep. Still don't understand why bean is supposed to keep me awake at night. I'm sure I'll have problems further down the road, but so far things are going well.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Morning everyone
Pink-Winged - Have a great holiday! I am coming over to your neck of the woods next week and I also think I am doing it the "hard way" - on a ferry  I am not a boat type of girl and go into a cold sweat when I think of it.
Snowyowl - Hope you feel better. You have to wonder who comes up with these sickness policies? My work is totally inconsistent. Its all calculated in percentages and there are people who are at 30% absence and nothing happens with them and then someone I know who is at 4% who is on final stage disciplinary and getting a huge bonus taken from him as a "punishment"
Aussielass - (From yesterdays thread) You know someone at work suggested I may be preggers as well but there was a few of us all with the same symptons. I always felt worse at work and I think its mainly because of the heat. No windows are allowed to be open coz there are too mainly people moan of the coldMy argument is that they can wear more clothes if they are cold whereas I could be arrested if I take any more off
It is quite cool here today so I really should get on with the housework I missed yesterday before it gets any warmer.
Have a load of washing to do and all rooms to be cleaned/tidied/hoovered.
Hubby is away to work but by the end of the week its not to a set time. If the work is done then he gets finished. He thinks he might be home at 8am. Its just a nonsense. His work won't let him stay a bit later during the week and get the Friday off so he is away today for possibly 1 hour
Finally getting round to getting my hair cut today. Have been meaning to make an appointment for a few weeks but only got round to it yesterday. Need to get some of the weight out of it. In this hot weather it just makes my head boil
Hope everyone has a good day and a great start to the weekend0 -
Morning.
Enjoy your hols pink winged.
I also had a good nights sleep. Must be because of the cooler weaather after the storm we had. I'm an evil witch. I found it really amusing to watch the kids leave school in the pouring rain yesterday.:p
I managed an evening off as my contribution to today is to have a group of 10 girls at the end of the day and supervise them for 40 minutes. Other than that, i can sit at the back of the room. I'm with my form all day, and there new form tutor, so hopefully i can nip out regularly for loo breaks, or it will be a long morning otherwise.;)
Then we are having a staff social once we get rid of the kids. We didn't get out of special measures. Even though we have made really good progress, they are waiting for our exam results to prove that teaching has improved. So we will have a 5th inspection in september/october time, which luckily means it will have very little affect on my stress at that time.
Moggins - hope your day is not as stressful today. Hopefully another nights distance might put some perspective on your row. It's one of the issues in marriage that is very emotive, and you don't know if you will have different opinions until the child is born. DH looks to me as some sort of guru who knows everything, so it will be a shock to him when our little one arrives and he has to be very involved. I'm sure he'll rise to it, but i can imagine some tense times while we adapt. I really wish you luck in sorting it all out.
Best go as i can hear DH stirring and i want to sort my packed lunch before he comes and needs the kitchen,
'hugs everyone,
Michelle, xx0
