The OP then said a bit further along in this thread that she later told the greeter she was feeling unwell and this was the reason she needed to use the phone but she did not state this in her opening post. It could well have been that the greeter thought she was trying it on just to make a free call.
I think she would have been better to have approached the greeter or any other member of staff and stated that she was feeling unwell and could they help her, I am sure in this case a first aider was have been called and a seat provided along with the offer to contact someone for her. I cannot understand if she was already in the store and shopping why she went all the way back to the store entrance to approach the greeter, better to ask for help from the nearest person.
I hope you are feeling better now and can put this incident behind you.
Mmmm.. in my OP I did state that I told the greeter I was ill. I put 'I explained the circumstances'. I also felt ill just as I got to the store. I hadn't done any shopping at that point at all, so he was the first person I came to. The CS desk had a long line of people, probably taking xmas gear back so I didn't approach them. Tbh, I thought I was going to faint or something so had to find a wall to lean on. Didn't know if I'd manage standing in a queue for a long time.
Anyway, yeah I'm feeling much better now ty.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Thanks sagalout. I agree with everything you said. And as I said it's not about compensation. I just want the store to have something in place to make sure this doesn't happen again.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss Meg. My problem is insignificant to what you must be going through, and I guess it shows what a lovely person you are to take your time out to reply to my thread on this day. Take care x
No Love it is not isignifcant to mine. You were ill and just asked for a bit of hel[ sorry my keyboard does not ut the letter rhymes with wee in
I am sorry I did mean that ost to be a rivate message but my friend used my comuter and ut it back to rely rather than rivate message I intended.
You did absolutely nothing wrong and having had the benefit of both a
Solicitor and an Asda Manager here today I can now tell you that Asda failed in their Duty Of Care, we all have this although sadly a lot of people
either dont know or choose to ignore it. I am told that firstly you write to the manager of the store, if you are not satisfied with that response, and I dont think you will be, write to head office, pointing out that they have a Duty of Care to all and any Customer in their store and this was clearly
not met. I note that you are not asking for compensation but dont want them to treat anyoneelse like this. but please dont refuse the grovelling
apologie and the probably insignificant voucher they will send. If it just
proomotes a circular email to remind everyone that there is a Duty of Care
you will haver achieved what you wanted.
Best wishes MegSlimming World at target0 -
I think people get worn down by selfish and stupid people. For every person who calmly state their position, there seems to be two or three ranting and raging about how they have been ripped off or treated badly, when it is plain that their treatment is fair.
FWIW I think the OP expressed themself nicely and calmly, and just asked advice on getting their comments taken seriously. This is sadly rare, and may leave some a little raw, or reading a tone of ranty, ignorant, self-richeousness where none exists.
Firstly may I explain that I did intend this to be a private message to lipstick,
who I felt was getting totally undeserved flak.
Secondly if you must quote me then please quote in full my post was clearly in support, as was acceptedi in her kind reply.
Finally this is not not sadly Rare its just something people shy away from
although can happen to anyone at any time, and should be prepared for .
Lastly if it left you feeling raw, or reading a tone of ranty, ignorant, self
richeousness where none exists, Tough why should I care about the likes
of you.
Dont bother repyling you are now on ignoreSlimming World at target0 -
The reason the greeter stands at the front of the store is to welcome you into the store and really is the first point of contact if you have any problems. So he should have helped you if you were unwell.
Asda are supposed to pride themselves in their excellent customer service
He seems like a jobsworth to me. I used to work for ASDA never came accross anything like that. Anyone who became ill in the store usually was offered a seat, some water or energy drink if necessary.
If I were you I would send a letter to the store manager directly, dont go through head office, and explain what happened. The managers name is usually on the receipt if that helps.0 -
you know, whenever I see Asda greeters I always think of Dave Spikey in Phoenix Nights where he was a greeter and sang "Come get your black bin bags"
