Of course they have an outside line; maybe not on the customer service desk, but certainly in the managers office. It seems you were dealt with by a jobsworth who wouldn't help.
I appreciate that it is not ASDA's fault/problem and have no responsibility to you, but i would have hoped for a bit more compassion. Perhaps you should have asked to speak with a supervisor/manager?
If you want to follow up this complaint, put it in writing to the store manager rather that going direct to HQ. Give him a chance to sort things.
My OH works in HR at a store and she/manager would probably call you/write to you and offer a voucher (5 or 10 pound) and the staff may get a lesson on customer service!!0 -

Is no-one in this country responsible for themselves any longer?
Asda should have done more, phone 999 and get them to pass on a message, phone my dad and come and get him to do my shopping, it's not my fault I went out when I was ill.
I appreciate that the OP has had a bad day, and a crappy situation. But honestly, it's not ASDA's responsibility to ensure that everyone entering the store is fit and well, and has a fully charged mobile phone with them.0 -
You are obviously a pefect person who never gets themselves into any sort of pickle or need anyone to help you out. I suspect that you might not bother to help anyone else who isn't quite so perfect - but I hope I am misjudging you.
I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But if I were ill I would not step outside without my mobile and then later rely on others. The OP has to take responsibility first and foremost. As I have said I'm not perfect...but it's really not difficult to make sure your phone is charged surely?0 -
I don't have a mobile phone so what would i have done? The OP did ask if they had a pay phone or where the nearest one was.0

I was in Asda and a gentleman came over all dizzy and faint. I helped grab him and we sat him on a pallet with beer boxes on as that was the nearest thing! Asda staff couldn't have been more helpful. Someone fetched him a glass of water and they offered to help him into the cafe or ring someone to collect him. He said he would rather sit and see how he felt and an Asda lady said she would stay with him and if he needed it, they would find a staff member to help him round with his shopping, pack it for him and help him into a taxi.
I left him sitting as there was nothing more I could do, but I was very impressed with the way the Asda ladies looked after him.
I would certainly write in a complain as I do feel the could have looked after you better based on the attention the man got. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Name me one high street privately owned shop that wouldn't help a customer get help if they were ill while visiting their premises...
Sod the supermarkets and their money grabbing philosophy.0 -
20 mins walk to the supermarket, with a child, knowing you are ill, choosing to do so without your mobile is...WRONG!0
