Crikey, what a long, busy, productive, expensive month! Glad its over and Feb is a relatively short one:p
The bed delivery has been postponed again  as OH decided to 'decorate' which is great, but we normally get a man in as OH does a good job - eventually - but is very messy and gets frustrated in the process which means we all have to suffer. So this has involved quite bit of spending from an already over stretched budget. MIL gave us £200 at xmas which has paid for most of it but we have gone over by £60 which will come out of next months xmas/house savings.
Also, I went over on the food/petrol budget by £178 . i'd already increased it by £100 to £800 as it was a long month so eek. On inspection, its not general overspending rather than lots of stuff we needed to get. I use any spare in this budget to buy clothes, house stuff haircuts etc and its not as bad as it sounds as we had a very expensive month.
So it went on: £53 school shoes and undies, £40 printer ink, £9 Microsoft office for laptops, £40 toiletries, £35 extra petrol OH expenses.
So I need to pay this off. OH expenses claim & 2nd job income will cover some of it and the rest will come from the debt busting pot.
Then, the ski holiday is costing us a fortune. I am so regretting booking this now. It seemed like a real good deal at the time and our mates are going so I know it will be great when we get there but Ive totted it up and we have spent £3000 on a 1 week trip! Fortunately, its all come out of the holiday fund but thats it all gone now. So I need to really make this up again before summer.
Finally, DS1 has brought home a last minute school trip request, so another £90 gone.
Good news is, I am on top of the finances. I know whats coming in and going out and have just about got enough to cover everything this month
Finally I called the bank this morning to arrange insurance for our trip and they offered me a 0% for 12 month and when it comes through I can transfer my Tesco balance onto it so I dont have to shop around. That reduces the stress levels a bit.:)
Only 26 days till next pay day :rotfl: ttfn cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -

Wow you've had a really productive time. Its great around payday when everything gets allocated, extra spending paid off and everything is back on track.
I'm with you on the overspends: food, petrol, clothes household bits. The only plus is that most of them even out apart from food and petrol which I constantly battle with. I quite like your idea of combining them both...I'll ponder that one.
Glad you are feeling in control of the £'s again.
The ski holiday will be fab if expensive. Just think if it as making memories. I'd love to go on one (I've never skiied in my life before) but I can just imagine how costly it can be. Getting DD prep'd for hers in March has been fairly expensive!
Good news on the 0% card. I can't believe you do so well with them. Having two at the same time is the best we've ever done until now when we don't really need them. I did ponder shifting our car loan onto one but its quite large (the loan) , I'll ponder that one for a DF day.
I can understand ref the decorating. My OH is the same, he does an excellent job but gets frustrated that he can't get it done quickly enough. He keeps muttering about painting the windows outside....I keep letting him mutter and I may get a quote from a man that can and does enjoy climbing up ladders!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
Cheers , I do feel more in control now Beanie, my 'to do lists' have been out of control of late but at last I feel i'm making headway,
WH, we bought this house in 2006 and ended up in a sealed bid war, which we wonbut all the cash we had left to decorate/buy furniture etc went to the house purchase plus £12.5k on a 0% virgin credit card and a £4k od! and so began my discovery of this site and love of the 0% tart!
Since then we have had numerous 0% deals in fact OH has come full circle - this latest one is with virgin again. I am happy to say ive not paid any interest at all apart form on our car loan and od fees.
So, my next step is to bt Tesco and Asda1 to RBS when it arrives that gives me while Sept to clear £2677 from Adsa2 which will be my new priority.
Good news, OH has done a blinding job on the bedrm, long may it continue! Ive tried my ski trousers on and they are no longer 'popping' open,so my mad exercising seems to be paying off, ive sold another 2 books on Amazon, Quidco has paid £63.98 today and £73.10 has been paid from Jan MS's :T
and on that happy note I bid you all good night cgxCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
