    Thanks for the input.

Looking at the pics the LA Fitness Gym does look really small. Queuing and space is not really an issue at my current Gym.

Anyone else tried any of the others I mentioned (Croydon/Victoria)?

I might just stick with my current Gym, although the jump from £15 to £52 isn't a nice one. :(

Have also tried Victoria (LA) -you really need to view it first. I hope they have had a revamp since I went (last summer). A brief list of wrongs would start something like this:
Too few machines, too many people (you gotta understand its in an area populated by thousands and thousands of government and retail workers- it gets very busy.
Although they have a few classes, the room in which the classes is in has holes in the celing. The studio is below ground. In one class the stub of a lit cigarette popped through to the class....and part of the studio had been leaked on by the rain (holes in the celing) you could hear people from the street- not good for yoga.
The spinning classes book out. Basicly all week, you MUST book in advance as I tried several times and never got a space. You can book 7 or 3 days in advance (depending on the class) from my memory at midnight- leave it till the next day and its too late.
The gym floor is dark, looks like a bit of a building site (only its not) and just felt awful to workout in.

I only went to this gym twice, I couldn't hack it more then that, I did try prior to these visits to go more but all the classes just were fully booked all the time. Would have been fine but most of the time people book up and then just don't bother showing up!

But the showers had shelves :)

    Great!

    Thanks again for the advice.

Not sure this is the right place - but Pruhealth members can now get an extra 25% of their LA fitness membership for 12 months. I currently get 25% off, but LA fitness are offering Pruhealth members an extra 25% - it means your direct debits will go to LA Fitness rather than Pruhealth for the membership, and you'll be paying a month in advance so will get with a double deduction when you move over.

You need to talk to LA Fitness to make sure they cancel your Pruhealth payments and to go through the T&C, supposedly there's no 12month contract either.

This is from my Vitality Zone
LA Fitness special offer 25% + 25% off.
LA Fitness are currently offering an extra 25% discount on Premier or Club Peak membership. This discount is on top of the 25% Vitality discount you already get with our gym partners - which means you can get a total of 50% off the usual price for 12 months.

Premier membership lets you use almost every LA Fitness club nationwide* - giving you the flexibility to work out anywhere whatever your lifestyle. Club Peak lets you choose one specific gym to work out at.

There’s no 12 month gym contract, no activation fee plus when you join you get an LA Fitness ‘Experience’ pack worth £100.

Your pack will include information on getting the most out of your gym membership, nutritional advice and all this free:

5 free guest passes worth £50
Free personal training voucher worth £35
    Kit bag worth £20
    LA Fitness sweat towel
    LA Fitness water bottle

Important note about your gym membership payments.
You pay your current gym membership fees directly to us in arrears at the end of every month. On the LA Fitness special offer, your membership will switch to LA Fitness directly, meaning your gym payments will no longer be to PruHealth.

As LA Fitness take gym payments at the beginning of each month, there will be a one-off double payment when you sign up for the special offer. This is because you will pay off the month you have just used to PruHealth, and then pay in advance to LA Fitness for the month you’re about to use. This only happens once, but it’s important that you’re aware of this.

You may have to pay your first direct payment to LA Fitness by debit/credit card to ensure a continuous membership, as the new direct debit with LA Fitness may not be set up before the first payment is due.

If there is more than one adult on your cover that wants to take up this offer, they will need to apply separately and have their own direct debit set up.

    What’s next?
    1. Locate your preferred LA Fitness club using the ‘Gym prices’ tab above.

    2. Make sure you’ve read our gym terms and conditions and the important note about your gym payments.

    3. Sign up for the LA Fitness special offer.

I save by using a budget gym (Nuyuu) and getting my instruction and motivation form Pocket PT (online Personal training) basically having an online relationship with a PT, a real one though who plans a workout for you and regularly updates it - I have a paid 'silver' membership so I can download my exercise videos and use the iPhone App with it. Costs me £4.99 per month. There's a free membership to get a feel of the service though and you still get a sort of personalised workout but unless you have at least the bronze membership you don't get the help and interactivity with the PTs and you can only watch the video online. It's very good but without the bronze or silver membership it's a bit of a one way conversation. My girlfriend told me about it, her PT is one of the fitness team.

Total cost £25 Gym and PT (Online) included!

I used to be a member at Fitness First Harrigay, London, near Finsbury Park, and I'd recommend it for anyone in or near the area.

It's a recently opened gym so everything is quite new and clean. Plenty of space and good amount of equipment.

The best part was it was only £45ish per month! For London that's a steal. Nearby Virgin Active at Woodgreen is nearly double that.
