    Hello -
Another question please, have emailed mobiles.co.uk twice and had no reply other than being given a 'ticket' number, with no further help or advice.
I got my phone yesterday - SIM card was loose in packet - NO ENVELOPE - why?
Put it into phone, have got no connection. Its with vodaphone, we havent ported our number over so its a basically a brand new contract.
Phoned up vodaphone, they have no details of the sim or number being active.
Phoned up mobiles.co.uk - eventually - to be told they would re-connect the SIM card, but it would take 48 hours, then if any problems I had to phone back.
Does it really take 48 hours to connect a new SIM?
And why was the SIM not in an envelope and just loose in the bag?
    Thanks

The answer could be in post #51 or solls' post 56.

If someone "only took the sim out to test the phone" and then cancelled the contract after only ringing Vodafone/O2, then what happens to that sim? Or even if they don't use it to make a call, only to check out the phone?

This is the other side of the coin. You are complaining - and quite correctly, don't get me wrong - that the sim is not in its original state - attached to its carrier.

So some MSE members want to be able to send back detatched sims because they change their mind but others don't want a detatched sim with their phone!

Clearly a perfect condition returned phone can be reissued, but what about the cost of the unwanted 2nd hand sim, plus the loss of the number from use, not to mention the admin costs.

In your case, I would want absolute assurance that there were no calls registered to that number that would be on your first bill if i was to accept it.

I think the post is saying that the SIM was not in an envelope, not that it was loose from the credit-card-sized holder?
