Good result Stuart
Don't let them make you think they've done you a favour though as it was what you are entitled to do ...only without the fuss.
Fingers crossed the rest goes ok !

PS I forgot to say make sure you tell Voda it's now cancelled and try to get a name in case you get any bills later on because mobiles don't cancel the contract as they did with me ;)

Have followed this and other threads about Mobiles.co.uk and some people are obviously aggrieved at the treatment they have received from them, but equally there will be many customers who have no problems at all, so rightly or wrongly we decided to use them for two contract phones with Vodafone, the ordering process and the e mails we received keeping us informed has been very good, the phones arrived on the day as promised , We decided to use the automatic cash back route 21 days after receipt of the phones, so providing that goes ok would have no hesitation in recommending them. Will let you know how they perform on the auto cashback......

In absolute faireness to mobiles.co.uk, if you look at their site, under Vodafone deals, it does say the following

Porting
For most networks you are connecting to, it is possible to port your number after connection. When your new handset arrives it will make and receive calls with a temporary number. Simply call the new network customer services and pass them the PAC number you have. The network will arrange port dates with your old network, and on the agreed date your number will be moved across to the new handset.
Vodafone
Please note that to transfer your number to a Vodafone contract, you will need to request and supply us with your PAC code before you complete your order or the number transfer will not be possible. The porting process can take up to 7 days during which your SIM card will remain inactive.

However, it is buried away and it needs to be made much clearer. Most regular mobile forum watchers know that Voda are the most tricky when it comes to PAC code transfers and maybe some previous posts could have made that point. Equally, the mobiles.co.uk rep is going beyond his company's written (but regrettably hidden) conditions.

Maybe another website improvement to be considered, Ben.

For any MSE members porting to Voda through any dealer - or even Voda themselves - make sure your PAC code has been entered or accepted by the sales guys before you sign up for a contract or even PAYG.

Hi Sanfly,
It stands to reason that there will be quite a few happy customers where nothing goes wrong ...As could be said for most "Stack em high sell em cheap" operations.
What sorts out the wheat from the chaff is when there are problems !
Needless to say as you will probably have read even the slightest hiccup turns into a major disaster as far as mobiles.co.uk are involved.

• Hi Stuart,

Is everything sorted yet?

Just to clarify for you it is true that PAC must be used at point of sale in order to port you number from another network onto Vodafone except in extreme cirumstances. You can always email webrelations@vodafone.com (include WRT 135 in the subject heading) Include as much information as possible. If anything can be done for you then they'll help you out.

Regarding cancellation, as you ordered online you get a 7 day cooling off period during which you are free to return the handset and cancel the contract without an early termination fee. Once again I'd email the webrelations team and see what they can do.

Thanks

Holly
• all sorted i think, emailed Voda to cancel copied in The ceo team for carphone warehouse who i must admit have been very helpful.

My advice for anyone having any problems with mobiles.co.uk is to copy in the Chief Exec team of the carphone warehouse plc and ask them to advise.

Such a shame i had to go through all that

OOer

I got my phone this week, no option to provide details that I'd be porting my number prior to order...
I phoned Orange (once I'd tested my phone and decided to stay with the contract thus using the phone & sim) and asked to port my number - not called Mobiles.co.uk to tell them - nothing to tell them I had to?
No problems at all...
I admit i overlooked initially the notice about porting but surely i can cancel this whole contract, regardless of the companies T&c's.
......?
