Will be sausages for me too, served with mash - needing comfort food as suppsed to be going on holiday tonight but cancelled because of French air traffic control strike :(.

Morrisons low fat sausages which look vile but taste nice, onions, mushrooms, worcs sauce or something else to give it some pzazz, garlic, herbs and baked beans to thicken - maybe some chick peas or something else as well?

Then doing low fat chicken stroganoff with fat free yog instead of sour cream - has anyone tried this?

Was just gonna say I'm drooling at the thought of your dumplings but it just sounds so wrong!:rotfl:
I love them, especially when my Mum used to make them when I was a child. Can I ask, do you make them with suet and put them in at the same time as your meat?

  • Today I cooked a whole chicken for tomorrow night's tea, stripped the skin off (and gave it to the dogs who were drooling so much I needed my wellies on) then returned the scrappy bits of meat to the SC with a chopped carrot, a chopped onion and a handful of rice, topped it up with water and put it back on to make Chicken & Rice Soup. Nice meat has gone into the fridge to be reheated tomorrow.

Yesterdays sausage casserole. I zapped it in the microwave for a few minutes, and have put it on high for now. Will add some dumplings later on.

I decided to buy a rice cooker and ended up getting the Tefal 4 in 1 as it seemed a good rice cooker. So I'm trying it out first as the slow cooker. It's not fancy - metal basin and only one temperature but I always used Low on my old one anyway. In it, as a test, is a chicken tagine with apricots, courgettes, honey and almonds. I kept to the recipe for the liquid quantities but used a Moroccan spice mix because I didn't have any harissa paste. I am curious as to how it will turn out.
