Wow, that is first time I heard different use of SC. Would you mind sharing how you make it? How did it come out for you compared to the conventional method? I love HM granola, shop bought stuff are over priced for what it is.... probably the packaging.

You got me all excited. I'm even more glad that I bought SC.

Umm... it was a bit of a disaster. Sorry to disappoint :rotfl:I left it in for the time the recipe said and stirred it and so on, but it still burnt to the point that not even DH would eat it.

I was so cross and so determined I wanted granola for supper that I immediately made another batch in the oven, which was perfect!

Oh dear angeltreats, mnnn we all have different sized bowl and wattage and I'm wondering if that's got anything to do with it. Do you think if you reduced the time, cook it on low and watch it like a hawk, it might work? Mind you I was wondering how it was possible because SC recipe always say add a little bit of water even if it is a roast chicken.
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

Have you sold your soul to the devil?

To be honest I think if you have to watch it like a hawk, it defeats the purpose of using the slow cooker and you might as well just put it in the oven. I was cooking it on low, I think it was for about four hours.
  • Chicken casserole in mine today. I was quite pleased cos even my two fussy kids ate it!

First time using my slow cooker, keeping a watchful eye over my bain-marie style one serving of simple sausage casserole. Sausage, split peas, carrots, onions and stock, and will eat with some baby potatoes in herb butter.

Okay, so maybe as well as watching for it exploding/setting fire I should have checked on how cooked it was! Five hours on low was too long for one portion and it was pretty mushy(my split peas had dissolved!) but still tasty with potatoes and a yorkshire pud.
Am now attempting rice pudding :D

The pyrex wiped clean in an instant but some splashes of stock on the crock pot took a bit of scrubbing. Once I've experimented a bit more(chicken casserole tomorrow!) I'll calm down and use it in a more MSE way- batch cooking!
