In my slow cooker today.... part 2

Hey, Im after some advice from you SC pros
Im not sure if Im posting in the right place, but figured you may be able to help... but direct me elsewhere if appropriate!
I have an SC which I have used lots, but Im finding if I make anything like soup, stew, chilli etc...anything in liquid - that when I get home its very overcooked. You could almost say that its burnt, without actually being charred... Just overcooked and tastes awful sometimes.
Ive checked the booklet, and it has LOW, HIGH and Auto settings and the book advises auto is the best setting for leaving meals to cook all day etc. and should be able to leave meals on for 18 hours. If I left it 18 hours I think it would be black and charred!
So I suspect perhaps Im not putting enough liquid in, or doing something else obvious wrong? Ive follwed the recipes and tried experimenting but dont seem to be able to get it right!
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance and thanks for reading
Oh I am not sure, funnily enough I have the exact opposite problem today. My chicken casserole has been on auto all day & when I checked it a bit ago it was not as far along as I had hoped so I have ended up putting it up to HIGH.
Perhaps the thermostat is not working maybe?? I am sure an expert will be along in a min.xFrugal Challenge £9000

I'm making a casserole and at the end of the recipe it says to add corn flour then take everything out the slow cooker and cook on the stove to help thicken it!
Is there a way to thicken it without doing that?
My slow cooker isn't one that can be used on a stove, and I don't have anything big enough to do that, plus I'm too lazy!I'm a money wasting expert.

I just add corn flour mixed with a little water directly into my SC and then stir, allow it to cook off for another 15 mins or so and its tastes fine. No floury taste ever. Have never had to put into a conventional stove to thicken.

I've just come in from the garden, dug up potatoes; onions; and carrots. I've got lentils soaking in cold water and have cooked and chopped up sausage, see what else there is can go in a casserole.
It can go on before i go to bed to cook overnight.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I had a yellow stickered turkey leg to cook yesterday. Unfortunately it was too big to fit in the slow cooker so I put it in the oven on the lowest setting (fan oven).
Checking the electricity meter units this morning gave me a shock  (I monitor it every day). It appears that my oven uses 6 times as much power as the slow cooker even at 90degrees.
That turkey was mighty good though!0
