You can add more potatoes and then blend, also more carrots then blending would make it more of a warming colour. Cornflour mixed with a little water would thicken it too.

Thank you Sunnyday for your help:T - I added more potatoes and carrots and also put in frozen peppers and it has turned out a treat. Didn't need to add the cornflour after all, as it was thickened by the exras that went in. :D

Soup in mine overnight so I can pop it in the thermos flask for work tomorrow. It's a mix of veg (potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, onion) with chorizo and ham (left over from dinner), yellow split peas, with a touch of Ginger and chilli.

That's a good idea and sounds yummy.

I've just bought my first slow cooker and will be cooking lamb, was planning to add carrots, swede, leek, onion etc I was going to put it all in together, but have then just read you should not add the veg until 1 hour before the end, but also read you shouldn't open the lid til you serve! Confused now, any advice please?

Veg takes longer to cook than meat so ignore that. Add it all at the same time but put the veg in first with the meat on top, also half the amount of liquid that you think you will need as it creates it's own water from the veg & meat.
Try not to open the lid, but to add dumplings etc (1 hour before serving) is fine, just be as quick as you don't want to let the heat out.
Have a read through the thread for ideas, and if you want more advice just post. :)

Just turned off the SC as the chicken stock is done. Going to leave it until the morning to cool down before dealing with the bones and bits of meat. I seem to be going to bed later and later, just can't sleep, still get up at 6.30 - 7am and do a days work.
