Mines sat on the side empty atm - but after following a link that someone else posted on another board (must have been the low carb one)i was looking at recipes and found a really lovely sounding one here about halfway down the page there is a recipe for beef and chorizo chilli that sounds absolutely gorgeous and i have all of the ingredients in except for the parsnip so i`ll sub a carrot for that as i have some in.
I think that i`ll cook it on low all day tomorrow so that it will be ready for when DH gets in from w*rk, sounds like just the right recipe for this horrible weather.

I ought to try jacket potatos in the slow cooker. I know one can roast a chicken but baking a potato or two sounds like a very good idea.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

I've tried the jacket potatoes too, and they are good!
Today though, I have a whole chicken in there. DH is out tonight so I am hoping to stretch it out for 3 days plus stock. Tonight I will boil up some veggies for me, tomorrow probably a curry and Sunday a chicken and leek pie. Its only a small freedom foods chuck but hopefully it can go that far!0 -
Just simple Beef Casserole today: onion, carrot, potato, leek, shin beef, parsnip, beef stock, red wine & seasoning. I cannot wait! Really takes the pressure off knowing it'll be ready when I get home & stops me feeling bad when I have to work later as I know OH can just help himself if he's had a hard day. We had Lamb on Wednesday ( whoopsie ), with fresh rosemary, garlic & a little red wine, plus root veg & it was divine. I think OH is finally converted as he got borderline excited when he discovered the beef in the fridge last night & actually suggested the SC :-))))0

Well im trying to do a full week of using my slow cooker with out using the costly gas oven so far i have made............
sunday-keema curry
Monday-homemade pasta bake- not jar bought ........made my own sauces
Tuesday- jamaican curried chicken
Wed- Braised ox cheeks
Thurs-jacket spuds
Today i am making a chilli, i discovered this morning i had no minced beef left so ive decided to use chicken instead, so when my chickpeas and kidney beans have finished soaking at around 1pm il chuck it all in the sc on high for 2 hrs then low till 6pm ready for when oh gets home.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

I bought a discounted stuffed lamb joint that I'd really like to cook in the SC. Thing is though, as it has stuffing in the middle, I don't want to drown the joint as it'll all turn to mush ! How little stock can you get away with in a SC? Is it possible to almost roast the meat in there?"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510

OK I'm planning another pea and ham malarky for tomorrow and wonder if I could throw in a (chopped up) lone chicken breast I found in the freezer... would that work?I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

You can put it in the sc with no liquid at all but if i were cooking it i`d add a tiny bit - not quite enough to cover the bottom.OK I'm planning another pea and ham malarky for tomorrow and wonder if I could throw in a (chopped up) lone chicken breast I found in the freezer... would that work?
If the ham and pea dish was good before without the chicken then i`d save it for another meal
