well, we're trying out the lamb joint in the SC today - I've put a tiny bit of water with a stock cube in the base & the joint in there on it's own. Interested to see how it comes out.

I think someone mentioned putting potatoes in the SC to bake - do they go in completely dry?

ETA: well, hubby declared it a success - looked very tender & moist so am happy!

  • Cool  would never have thought to do HM dog food in one, though I don't have a dog so...:o:D

Mines a 6.7 ltr one and I love it. Was wondering whether to get a smaller one as well but I always seem to fill mine and am not sure I would get the use out of a smaller one.

I have a 3.5 litre one as well as the biggie, i thought long and hard before getting the second one but they do both get a lot of use.

I know that the large one is living on borrowed time as it has a crack near the top of the crock

They are both good for different things and i would miss them if i didn`t have them :o

Got so much to learn yet about my sc. Didn't realise it could be used with a tiny amount of water/stock. I always put in a good bit - maybe a third of pot. Will def try this. How did the potatoes turn out?

  • in the sc we are having benechin/jallof rice similar to a jambalya using the left over roast chicken which so far has turned out to make 4 meals so far, roast for sunday, a chicken and leek pie, benechin and a chicken soup out of one whole medium chicken for 2 adults and 1 child so far and freezing leftovers.

the benechin is a rice dish with leftover meats/veg tinned toms, tom puree spices, stock and seasoning.

and its smells yummy will have plenty of leftovers for oh to take to work lol
