Well im trying to do a full week of using my slow cooker with out using the costly gas oven so far i have made............

    sunday-keema curry
Monday-homemade pasta bake- not jar bought ........made my own sauces
    Tuesday- jamaican curried chicken
    Wed- Braised ox cheeks
    Thurs-jacket spuds

Today i am making a chilli, i discovered this morning i had no minced beef left so ive decided to use chicken instead, so when my chickpeas and kidney beans have finished soaking at around 1pm il chuck it all in the sc on high for 2 hrs then low till 6pm ready for when oh gets home.
The Jamaican curried chicken sounds lovely, any chance of the recipie? :D

Grimbal it would be fine with just a few ml of stock.

JPS Cloud, I would but I like to try thing's to see if they work.

  • I have prepared a chicken curry to put on tomorrow when i wake up,Added some whoopsied baby vine tf toms, they have lased ages, i bought them last week, i am impressed, onion, potatoes and some ginger and seasoning. need to go and get quotes and hopefully buy a carpet tomorrow so may be a long day, then when i get home, just pop some rice in the steamer along with some whoopsied broccoli and dinner will be sorted, ran out of curry powder, but will buy some tomorrow, so may add a bit more with a few hours to go, depending on how it tastes.

Want to cook a gammon joint i have in the fridge, but not really sure how, i want it to be like a honey roast gammon, will this work in SC if i keep turning it?

I think that it would work if you started it off in the sc and then coated it when part cooked and whacked it into a hot oven for the rest of the cooking period.

I`m a bit lazy and either do one or the other :D

I did the pea and ham recipe along with the chicken breast and a random handful of mung beans (never used them before, so was itching to try them!)

It is delicious, although to be truly MSE I should, as another poster suggested, maybe have used the chicken for another meal - still, this will feed me (evening meals) for a week minimum, with some left to freeze I think. The chicken really takes up the flavours, too. Total cost around £4, so not too bad.

What Sunnyday says, I definatly feel your pain.

I have a hairline crack in my crock as well, right along the bottom and up a side. Though it has been there for 6 months+ and hasn't shifted so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Today we had sausage, pumpkin and chickpea curry served with rice.

Will put it in the SC recipe thread.
