If you are giving the gravy to the dog i would leave the onions out when you cook it, the onions will shed a fair bit of juice into the gravy and they are poisonous for doggies. Maybe an idea to see if the soup has onion powder in too. HTH

Sublime - My 2 hounds love it, i think that its the juices from the chicken that they love and even better i got the minced chicken at the local market which has started selling it for petfood, they have this stirred into what ever is left at the end of the day. (dry food which has been soaked in the morning)

Nickynackynoo - The pate is easier to make when the casserole is still barely warm, pour the liquid out first and whizz it up with lots of butter, just add the juice until you get a soft consistency. When it cools the butter will set and it should just be spreadable. I do the same with brisket for potted beef.

My slowcooker has been soaking all day whilst i was at work so now i shall scrub it and put it away for a rest :D

Dog is 3 years old now and has had onions in gravy for as long as we have had her and has come to no ill effect and the vets praise her healthy glossy coat.

I will have to give a go one day. I have the dry ingredients, and I usually have cheap meat for my dog in the freezer. :)

I'm new to this board (been lurking for a bit really...) but in mine today is Buttered Chicken with Lemon and Garlic. Very easy whole chicken that stretches to 4 other meals with leftovers!! :) Smells delish and can't wait for babies to go to bed so we can eat!

Maybe i`m a bit too fussy/careful with their food but i can`t help but be on the safe side, i used to work with someone who lost their labrador a good few years ago because of onions. It scared me as i didn`t know that they were poisonous then and i wasn`t sure whether or not you knew this. I can`t find the original article but a quick google found this http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/StoryTemplate_Process.cfm?Story_No=257#ct-4

Sorry for being off topic everyone :o

  • Attempting Rice Pudding.
Preheated and coated pot in little butter. Warmed up 600ml of milk.
Added roughly 100g of Rice..from hair bikers, decided to give basmalti a go.
Added in some Low Cal Sugar - didnt seem to register much on scales so poss add little more later.

Near end all going well throw in some dried fruit and maybe part of a crushed cinnamon stick.

mm its absolutely delicious. kept adding little bit more milk. has been on 3hours. added two tablespoons of Coconut and the dried fruit.

crushed up half a cinnamon stick.
How will I stop myself eating it all?
  • I want to order a brisket to put in mine, I usually make enough to serve 4-6 people, what size brisket do you think I would need?

I have a lot of sad looking veg in my fridge (some onions are getting a touch slimey :o) so will chuck it in the SC today with a little curry powder and some veg stock and will mix in some cooked rice rice once its cooked to bulk it out into a curried veg soup.
Hate throwing things out but suspect it wont make much soup without the rice :rotfl:

Its taken me ages to find the new thread, :) I have pork chops in cider in my small SC today. Have layered onions and mushrooms at bottom with chops on top added garlic and herbs and covered in cider. No idea if its going to be ok. Considered adding apple or stock but ended up on not bothering.
