How many units of gas / electricity are people using?

Yesterday we used 2 units of gas and 16 units of electricity.

I'm just curious as to how this compares with other people.

Metric gas units or Imperial gas units?
Would be more use if you converted them to a common unit like Kilowatt Hours be for posting.

Thanks all. Our gas is imperial.

Npower calculate 32 KwH per unit. Their charges for the first 2206 KwHs per year are 6.506p / kwH year, and the remaining KwH's are charged at 2.129p / kwH.

However, the charges are applied as 1 third KwH's at the higher rate and 2 thirds at the lower rate on a daily basis (I've just phoned to find out how the rates are applied and this is what they've told me).

According to Npower we've used £38.15 worth of gas since 31st December, from our meter reading then and the reading today.

We're going to be much more aware and turn the heating off as much as possible from now on.

I had no idea we were spending so much on our gas and electric - if anyone had asked I would have said that we were quite frugal - obviously not as frugal as I'd thought!

  • According to out energy monitor we are using £4 a day average with the cost per unit set at 14p
Electric only with eco 7 and night storage heaters
I have now started taking reading more offen to see if this is acurate

Date Day Night Total Used First 3174 2047 5221
    09/12/2009 3897 2426 6323 1102 22/12/2009 4065 2750 6816 493
You can see between the 9th and 22nd we used 493 units, just need to do some maths to see if this works out at £4 a day

I am unsure of the true cost per unit but as we have arrears with Scottish power they wont change our tarrif to a cheaper one untill the arrears are paid off, So i think we are on a standard tarrif

Not very Eco Friendly flat, more draughts that standing outside on top of a hill
