  • You need to open another classic account and then upgrade it to vantage.
  • Thanks ultrawomble - But it won't let me open any sort of current account at all ... the phone is still ringing!!
  • So the answer is that you can't now open additional accounts on line but you have to phone and then, after security, speak to a very charming sales lady who will try to sell you other products as well. And you can only open one additional account every 24 hours so you have to ring back a second time to get the third account open.

Only (slightly) good thing is that you get the new account number immediately so you can pay into it immediately and it will appear on internet banking within 24 hours.

A job creation scheme i feel!!!
  • What a rigmarole that was! Just opened my third vantage account - had to phone again - and got cut off twice as customer service folk tried to transfer me to the account opening team. Anyway after a total of 35 minutes my husband and i both have a third account each.

Things i learnt that might be of use to others:

    * you can open the additional accounts on line if you are a Lloyds customer of at least 3 months standing (but not a Bank of Scotland one like me!)

    * you need to know which branch your account is with - i recalled ticking a box from a list of about half a dozen in my area during the on-line opening of the first account but as i had no intention of visiting a branch did not make a note, mental or physical, of it. Lloyds however regard knowledge of this information as a key security check (if you've got a cheque book for the first account you can find it there - it is not on the internet banking information).

Oh well i suppose all this hassle is worth it for 4% on £42k in our six accounts .... but it has been one of the more frustrating account-opening experiences!

About to fund my Vantage accounts (though struggling with FP limits!) ....

Then need to set up the internal transfer so that the £1000 goes round the accounts - do I need to allow 3 working days for this or are such recurring transfers instantaneous (as i would hope?)

Internal transfers are instantaneous (well quicker than I can login).
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

no chance of getting 7 now then....

is anyone still managing to get more than the 3 limit??

i'm sure a few of my 6 have been since the limit was brought in....
  • Thanks Jonbvn for the reassurance ... after all the hassle opening them i did wonder what else they could throw at me!

Carpy - To be honest i don't think i could face opening another!! Maybe i'll feel more cheerful about it all after Christmas (and after i've managed to finish my tax return!)
