Thank you to everyone that sent and posted kind messages to me. I was actually overwhelmed..

Today has probably been one of the hardest days of my life.. Never in a million years imagined we would be burying mum even though I knew she was terminally ill for over a year. Our church was absloutely packed which made me warm inside to think so many people thought so much of my beautiful Italian Mamma...

I think my father, brother, husband and daughter and I would have done her proud today.. I read out the following poem to her maybe you would like to hear it..

In tears we saw you sinking,
    And watched you pass away.
    Our hearts were almost broken,
    We wanted you to stay.
But when we saw you sleeping,
    So peaceful, free from pain,
How could we wish you back with us,
    To suffer that again.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

    If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
    and hold her for awhile.
    Because remembering her is easy,
    I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
    that will never go away.
Don't think of her as gone away
    Her journey's just begun
    Life holds so many facets
    This earth is only one
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years
Think how she must be wishing
    That we could know, today
    Now nothing but our sadness
    Can really pass away
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she is loved so very much

Tomorrow starts a new part in my life without my best friend.. To be honest even at 37 its very scary that my fountain of knowledge wont be walking with me but I promised her I would try my best..

Thanks again for all your thoughts and messages..

    Turks..x

Turky... I am glad you had the strength to read out such moving and poignant words today that was so very brave, I know I couldn't do it. Just go with your feelings each minute and in time those feelings will get easier to live with and you will be able to think back on your mum and it will hurt a little less. She is barely more than a breath away from any of you and missing holding you all as much as you are missing her. Sending you many hugs and as much support as you need, as I am sure we all are.

Bed time in the pen.. kitties fattened, lights out... I'm really hungry....

  • Thanks, Rach, I think I'll do that too.

Turks, as a fledgling, I don't know you, but you have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

As for me SOAADFA, all I can say is CAUGHT!! Although both lists are nearly complete now. Will update tomorrow, when I have sneaked some more in to relieve my conscience!

    Night!

I am skimming atm (both thread & flying) but noticed a few worries about paying tax - ring the Tax Office as soon as you know how much you owe and ask for a time to pay arrangement. Make sure you do this before 28 February & ask them to put it in writing (as usual take note of date, time & name of person). If agreed by 28 Feb (& assuming arrangement is kept to) you don't pay the 5% surcharge on 2008/09 tax not paid by 28 Feb but you do still pay interest (3% but on the tax only ie not interest on the interest iykwim). Still send in the Return even if you can't pay the tax otherwise you'll get an automatic penalty. HTH someone as often people not aware need to agree before 28 Feb to save the 5%.

Hugs as necessary but esp for Turks, Toots & Lady L

Quick s&s of bathroom then bed, bit more in the morning as I think plumber is coming to repair the gas fire (it broke whilst being serviced in April :o).
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

Thank you to all who post competitions & help the smooth running of the comps board

[STRIKE]Clean one small appliance thoroughly.. microwave, kettle, iron,[/STRIKE] Did the toaster
Clean appliance filters.. WM DW, Kettle, Vacuum cleaner.. cooker hood.. :pThis one may have to wait for the weekend, as DH normally does the filters on the WM, TD and DW as I struggle to do them as I can't kneel down for long. Filter can't be cleaned on the vacuum, no cooker hood and my old kettle died over Christmas, so filter on my new one is still clean.:p

    Extras
    1. Sharpen knives
    2. Order and organise the spices and sauces. Did this just before Christmas, just checked them, still in order:j
    3. Sort the plastic boxes/tupperware
    4. Medical box - restock and inventory. I'm sure a lot of us will have run out of the vitals the last few months! Did this before the New year, was a nightmare stocking up on paracetamol and stuff as the shops have to limit the amount you can buy and I'm stocking up for 8. I will have to be more organised and restock on a more regular basis.

    1. Gather insurance documents/guarantees/important papers together in one accessible file After a mad panic last year over DH road tax, could'nt find the insurance cert  , every thing is now filed away in a fire proof box.
