  • How do you stop ebay from showing "you need to post x items" when you've already posted them (if that makes sense!)

tick the little box to left of item then scroll back to top and you should see change status, change it to 'paid and dispatched'

kosma1 and truly1 - I am on dooyoo (littlemisshappy) - have tried to look for you both using member search, but you're not coming up yet, will keep my eyes peeled for your reviews and add you to my circle of friends. Anyone else on here if you want to add me go ahead, don't really know who to add  Do you just add when someone has given you a good review, or after they have read yours a few times? Is there any rhyme or reason (other than MSE-ers obv :D )?

I am very excited as got my first bid on eBay today and got a few watchers, which is making me get my butt in gear and get more of my stuff on there. Especially since OH has put his foot down and told me no more buying stock until I've sold my old stuff

By the end of the year my OH will have to have stopped work to help me with my multi million profit making business :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
(well a few thou anyway :o)

EDIT : Found you on dooyoo now Kosma and Truly :-)

  • anyone find selling on amazon profitable? I have just listed alot but it by time they take fees etc it really eats into the profit, suppose trick is to list unusual and scarse books etc you can command a decent price for rather than the everyday paperback?! Having some problems pricing as don't want to give away but don't want to be greedy and be left with them. Think the common paperbacks will have to go 3 for £1 at bootie or go to fatbrain if they are titles they want! Does anyone know...when it says price on Amazon.com is for example £4.21, does amazon.com charge the same £2.75 p&p on top of that, as they put on our prices?

That's the spirit :D. How do you get the slightly bigger text in your signature by the way? If I try to go up a font size it says BB too big and won't let me do it ... can't fathom it at all ;).

  • victoriaplum1 - amazon take a cut of the postage, but not all (I think a previous poster said 47p?) and they take a cut of your selling price. I'm selling a few on there at the moment and it's way easier than eBay to list etc. I don't put mine on at the lowest price, but kinda middling and see ow it goes - it doesn't cost anything to list and you can try to sell it elsewhere in the meantime and take it off amazon if you do sell it somewhere else!

You get the £2.75 they quote for postage ... sometimes it is more than postage costs and some times less. As for how effective it is I will let you know in time. I don't think it is a fast market and as a new user I have no feedback (and for the sales I have had no one has left me any to help things along) so I assume for a while some people won't buy from me as readily etc. For me though I had quite a few specialist books that have reasonably high value even second hand and they are just taking up space, so time is not such a huge issue compared to if I had bought them in to sell ... then I would likely want quicker turnover than I am currently getting so that I could reinvest. Having said that, it would certainly help my fund if a few more sold sometime soon ;).

Edit: Sorry, yes they take a cut of postage, but in their calculation they take their fees off and then add the postage back in if that makes sense. Postage allowance and postage cut for Amazon vary by product group too i.e. DVDs are less.
