First time listing on ebay in quite a while. I know you can't charge postage on books now, but can you charge postage for international shipping on books?

Er ... short answer is I am nor sure, but it is something I need to know so I will see what I can find out ;).

Have pretty much 1/2 my inventory listed for sale online, and will list the other half over the next two days. Its all photographed anyway. After that I am going to do a whip around of the house and double check there isn't anything else to get rid of.

After that I need to restock, so am off to garage sales on Saturday. Last time I spent 50 and made 150. Good, but feel I need to do more...

Am going to submit some stories I have written to magazines, have made money this way before. Just need to actually get around to it. Useless sometimes!! :o

Sounds like some of you are doing really well!! Keep up the good work!! :T

Wow. How quick is this thread. Very hard to keep up with. Is there anyway of just getting people to just put advice on here rather than lots of chat? Or am i in the minority with this view and just a slow coach?

My advice. If you work for the council. There should be a notice board on the intranet (not internet) that the employees only can access(this is the case for the council i work for). There should be lots of cheap items on there that people are trying to sell, as its a very easy option for them to get rid of stuff they don't want..

Hope this helps some people, and hopfully no-one that works for the same council as me :D

Good advice :) about the intranet classifieds and work place sales. I think the thread will settle down to its own rhythm without constraining it ... it is a no rules challenge so a rule heavy thread would be a shame. I really like how the thread is developing personally and as I have mentioned before think that a large proportion of the chat will head off to PM and buddy groups ... to be honest though I think most of the best ideas ultimately come from chat and humour as from here often the most lateral of leaps can be made. Quite often in this thread there are fantastic insights wrapped up in the chit chat ... I would miss them (as would anyone else open to seeing them) if they weren't here and ultimately would lose interest in the thread. Just my thoughts on it ... I could of course be blindingly wrong ;)

  • Zoegirl - Which magazines, if you dont mind me asking? I do a lot of writing I'm paid for, but I've never been paid for writing in a magazine, they usually just print it free? Don't worry if you don't want to share :)

I agree with you, it is fun to read, and you do pick things up! :o) And the chat keeps people motivated too I guess.

Has anyone any experience of selling on Play/Amazon as a new user? I thought the Play.com 5 free trades looked good, but do you think it is a lot less likely buyers will buy off someone with no rating?

I use Play quite a lot and a low feedback makes no difference, although occasionally this can work to a "sellers" advantage as I found out when they took my money and never posted my item, this was in November and Play still haven't sorted the matter out

Oh forgive me! I know this has been covered but I can't find it now cos I'm all of a tizz :o...I've just won £80 on BB (:T:j:T:j:T) tried to withdraw but it says if I make a withdrawal the £5 bonus fund will be removed from my a/c. So do I have to wait til the 30 days is up before I withdraw? I have another 23 days to go..

Thank you and sorry for asking what I should already know the answer to

sparrer: I think if you play a pay game before you try withdrawing it should secure your £5 bonus fund for the day, so maybe try 1 red or black spin on roulette then try withdrawing your cash balance hopefully then you'll still have a £5 bonus to play with tomorrow. I withdrew my winnings after playing a game that day and I didn't forfeit my bonus.

congratulations on your win btw!! :D

A group of people, all focused on a definite aim, pulling together to reach out for their dreams and support each other along the way (through advice, support, chat, humour, motivation ... and the occasional well intention boot up the behind;)) is to me the true power of this thread and the wider MSE site. A place to come where there will be enough people in a positive, helpful mood to help counteract some of the quagmire of negativity we can all encounter out in the big wide world. I for one am loving it :D.

Well said sparky, I too would miss all the chat and useful information I've received from the thread. It's been lovely to see some peoples ideas develope from throwaway remarks made through chit chatting. Would be a shame to lose that. I know I'd probably end up getting bored and drift away
