Well none of my ebay items are selling as yet but i wont get downhearted just yet as they have until sunday to go!!
Im waiting for a parcel to arrive with items for me to sell on, (they tried to deliver today but i was asleep!!) I seem to struggle to get anything done during the week (due to the fact that I currently work nights) so find weekends are my most productive times!
Ive managed to write 3 dooyoo reviews so far and hope to manage to write a few more ready for me to put on at the weekend!!
Just wanted to say thank you to you all on here..... your keeping me motivated
You have actually given me some good advice here - I've just joined dooyoo, but I'm still getting the hang of it. I'm writing directly on to the site, when I should be writing it out first! This would help me avoid the mental block on what to write.
So thanks! :money:0 -
come on you lot cheer up.......
Life has it's ups and downs, only made a few quid this week-there's always tomorrow.
I only wish I had the advise you lot have here, several years ago,I'd be laughing all the way to the bank. There will be knocks on the way, there are ups and downs in most new ventures.Hopefully you have not done this feet first and bought the first thing that looked cheap ? Only to find 200 similar items for 99p on ebay.....We've all done it !
If you are struggling for ideas go and do some research,an ideal way of finding a niche is looking on ebay.....
Just as an example here is a postcard that recently completed on ebay
just click here
It made a good final price, and the reason for that:
rare,good subject,social history,good condition,unusual, to name but a few reasons.
What I'm saying is,you have to look outside the box if you want to make
B I G money.
It's a fact that a pair of 99p gloves will most possibly sell for 99p or less.
A postcard that no one else has will possibly reach £300-maybe £400 or maybe £4000.00.You have a chance where items are collectable to get the big money.
If you read some of my early posts on the first part of this challenge, you will see I mention a badge that sold for nearly £300.00.I paid £1 or £2.00 for it.
Here is another item/badge that recently finished-just click here
Again it sold for a great amount.....can you see what I'm saying ?
Start researching anything that catches your eye, after a period of time you'll start to see some bits that you've been looking for, maybe they'll be at a carboot sale,MAYBE you'll buy that item for 10p and sell it for £1000.00.....never say never-it happens every day.
So cheer up,believe in yourselves,I believe in you lot-so believe what I say.
See ya later !:wave::wave:"Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -

I really didn't like to post and haven't recently because I was doing well but after Bing0's chin up post I thought I would.
I have added another £332.25 after fees from Ebay sales, amazed myself that the things I collect are so popular, I've duplicated and triplicated some items and some I just didn't like. I've used something I enjoy and have learnt lots about over years, taken the plunge with this challenge to move them from the boxes they live in to turn them into cash. A few years ago I bought 3 items at approx cost of £3.50 each and they sold for £300-£400 each, the buyer over paid postage to USA of £50 and told me to keep it and have dinner on her:D.
On the downside I've just got to move the money from the joint account without too many tears from OH and I'm still waiting for stock(1 of 13 items has turned up)sold the 1 at 75% profit.
Thanks to Bing0 and all for making this challenge fun:j0 -
Wow, SADIE, your doing amazing! Sooo jealous.
I'm now officially banning myself from this thread until I have something positive to say; Feel free to shout at me if you see my light on before then guys, everybody needs a good kick up the @rse occassionally0 -
Hi again , glad I subscribed to this thread it so quick and now I can check the email on my BB and look through it all day, working full time and trying to do this challenge is proving tricky but I will be making every effort to continue, the ideas are great.
Well after my inital sucees of first item on ebay £160.00 was feeling great but need to put up more designer stuff, when tapped up friends for them. No more sales yet but some items ending in 2 days and some in four days trying to spread them out althought did read on here somewhere post on a Tuesday to end on a Sunday eve often proves fruitful.
However, OH received £60 from a friend apparently lent it to him about 2yrs ago and we forgot, no wonder we are in debt you say, anyhow wasn't expected so wondering if allowed to add to my total? any advice greatfully received.
Everyone seems to be having a lot of luck on BB so thought i would try my hand tonight so will let you know how I get on.
Finally been doing some surveys IPOS but not worked out I can earn from this, there is mention of points being allocated but how often and where I can check the balance of these I need to look into
On a final note I have had two NSD ......okay probably more relevant to the frugal living thread but I am enjoying the challenge of trying to not spend anything all day.
Great effot everyone you are all doing really well:grouphug:Kez12 intends to have a frugal 2012 and bust that debt:j there's certainly plenty of it!0 -
I think it is possible to get good prices for something you start at 99p on ebay, I've 6 sold items this last week for £115 total profit and they all started at 99p, but I knew their quality and value. I even stated this in the description but said I was willing to take a gamble as the items were surplus to requirements.
The trick is to know what you are selling, I never list anything without researching it first. Sometimes all you need for research is the 'completed items' tab on ebay, but you really need to make sure you know what you've got. If you are listing silver or gold, find out what those hallmarks mean and include it all in your description.
For example, one of my items was a broadband dongle, now I was willing to accept less than I paid as I got 2000 tesco points for buying it which = £80 off my next holiday. Anyway... I popped into the completed listings, looked at all those identical dongles and studied those which successfully sold for good prices, I used the same title as those which had a lot of pageviews and I used ideas from thier descriptions, including wording and the layout. After fees and postage costs etc I got about £11 less than I paid for it (inc del) but £11 for £80 off my holiday is an investment I'm more than happy with and its end price was good in comparison to the same items belonging to other sellers ending the same day.
Vary the font size for different paragraphs, use blue or red to highlight paragraph titles, it breaks it up and makes it much easier for the buyer to read....go BOLD to emphasize important details. and watch your spelling!
Also weigh your items so you know how much it will cost and include postage prices for overseas bidders, okay most will ask if they are interested, but what if they only spot your item 30 mins or so before the end, they'll figure they wont have time for your response and just wont bid. My scales are rubbish and I under-quoted for one of my items, but my lesson there is to invest (via sales and cashback) in a more accurate set, saving money in the long run.
well those are my selling tips for those people starting out on ebay...obviously the fees for ebay and paypal need to be studied too, but I was just trying to cover the listing angle.
hope it helps someone, I feel I've a lot I need to give back after all the help and encouragement I've received recently.Turn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 member # 247
