I am trying all sorts of different options and shifting things, but not making more than a £1.00 or two profit after postage and packing and fees, on each item. A couple of BIN items, that went really well early in the month, have been my big money makers. Still if we can turn a profit during the most difficult of trading periods, in a tough recession, we are going be flying by the summer!!
All these pennies add up and on that note I am going to ring Tesco, who have overcharged me £3.32 on an online order, and get that refunded.
even though the profits are small at the moment they are helping to boost your feedback and DSR's! That in itself will help when things pick up!!
PMA to everyone!

Just a quick update...
Think my luck with bb has drawn to a close, nothing for the past 2 days but still have a week or so to go so will keep trying.
Had a look at setting up an ebay sellers a/c but decided I'll try the local free papers first, then if no luck I'll take the plunge . A bit daunting but all the thousands of other sellers had to do it for the first time so I'm sure I can. We have two freebie papers and some on line buy/sell/swap groups, sister sites to freegle/freecycle, I've made the list so will see what comes of it.
Thanks for the info re MusicMagpie, I sorted out my cd's and dvd's last night but could only find 8 I don't mind getting rid of out of hundreds . I really must be more ruthless!
Lovely to hear of everyone's progress and support for each other, thanks for the encouragement you don't realise you're giving me
Sparrer.... if you need any help with ebay feel free to PM me. I don't know everything but I have been selling on and off for a few years now. Oh, and dont forget the ebay board on MSE, they are a wealth of information!

Well none of my ebay items are selling as yet but i wont get downhearted just yet as they have until sunday to go!!
Im waiting for a parcel to arrive with items for me to sell on, (they tried to deliver today but i was asleep!!) I seem to struggle to get anything done during the week (due to the fact that I currently work nights) so find weekends are my most productive times!
Ive managed to write 3 dooyoo reviews so far and hope to manage to write a few more ready for me to put on at the weekend!!
Just wanted to say thank you to you all on here..... your keeping me motivatedOfficial DribblerThis is the year to #getfit0 -
Thanks. I suppose even if it only tracks for one it would still be a saving
. I am looking at a couple of things tonight so I will see how it works. Do you usually go through Quidco just as you are about to bid or can you be on a little while in advance? ... I usually have at least one ebay tab on the go, usually more
. I suppose trial and error will tell me in the end ...
I just go through when I bid, and as long as I don't clear cookies, go through again when paying to track. It's only pennies but all helps.0 -
£45 from Quidco being paid on the 31st apparently. :j
Not bad considering I already got the £100 for opening the account (in my savings too!)
Ebay items are being watched, one has a bid on it.
MS job on Friday. £5 fee but better than nothing.
Must list some more items on eBay! Also emailed the company who supplied my ironing board as it broke, they have kindly stated that they will send me a new one with no charge, so thats saving me a few pennies!!0 -
Well 3 weeks in and I think I've learnt a lot already, made some decisions about how I want to proceed with this and have just this second hit the £200 barrier from eBay sales! :j These are mainly from things I've had lying around the house, so I need to get a move on with finding new things to sell because I think I've just about run out. Some random thoughts....
A starting price of 99p usually ends in a sale price of 99p! Or a couple of pounds if lucky. Unless its something really popular which will get plenty of bids anyway. Putting a cheapish item on a BIN for a couple of pounds more might be better in the long run - lots of impatient buyers out there who will pay BIN prices rather than wait a couple of days for an auction to end.
Cheap items might sell well but turnover has to be massive. 99p sales less ebay and paypal charges and postage and the profit is minimal. Personally I'm not sure its worth it - I've had about 20 trips to the post office to post CDs/DVDs that have given me a profit of pence when all the P&P and charges come off.
Something unusual that I'm not sure of the value of is better at a higher start price in my (very limited) experience. Its hard to judge its worth - starting at 99p puts a lot of pressure on needing a bidding war.
I started off unprepared and have probably wasted at least £20 on packaging because I jumped in too fast without getting in cheaper supplies. And because I have this irrational desire to post any sales as soon as physically possible, I've ended up buying padded envelopes/bubble wrap/parcel paper at the local shop at very high prices!
If I have big items to sell, I'm going to have them all end on the same day so I can arrange for one courier pick up. I've spent about £30 since I started on posting huge items via Royal Mail because I couldn't wait in for a courier every day. I could have got away with one day if I'd timed the items to end at the same time and probably paid half the price.
Still trying to find that elusive easy to find item with high resale price (but aren't we all?!!). Think I'm going to get stock from jumble sales, carboots and charity shops rather than buy new to sell on. Problem is, I've only found one thing worth buying this way so far! But that's my plan. I've done so much blooming research I think I know what sells well - now just got to find it!! :rotfl:[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -

It all adds up. Having a quick read it seems to be 40% of ebay fees so it depends who you buy from ... power sellers pay lower sees etc so you would get less than buying something for the same price from a non power seller as 40% of listing, BIN fees, final value fees etc. Could add up to circa 5% of non postage purchase price ... not to be sniffed at. Just won something so I will see if it tracks or not ... decided not to bid on other item so will have to wait and see how that works.

I've got a bit of a dilemma, anyone got any ideas please? Have got to post and run though as baby's teething and I need to sit with her so will thank you tomorrow if you can help!
Have got some velvet curtains on Ebay - started off at 99p. Have listed one as it's got the lining intact - thought might go as a door curtain - and have mentioned the other one which has been torn off at one end to use as a throw. They're in good condition and just need re-lining really but a buyer has asked me outright for a price for the two and I'm not sure what to say - checked completed listings and there was one similar that went for £100 but started off at £2.99 so have been waiting... there's 12 people watching it so far, not sure what to do? Shall I give her a price or just change the details to include both curtains maybe...Sorry very rushed, off to see to baby again!I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
