snow affecting your deliveries?

Really feel for everyone who is having problems with PO and RM.
I live in Northampton, pretty bad snow here but still getting delay deliveries from RM and had delivery from Fastway and DHL earlier in the week.
My local PO in has been open as normal (but can be a bit hard to get to)
No buyers asking for updates on packages (about 200 items sold since start of last week) and has loads of feedback "Fast delivery despite snow" ect.
The UK is rubbish in the snow; everything seems to grind to a halt and a lot of the public panic (no help to the news channels creating unnecessary fear and panic)
Now the road conditions have been bad for a while i think people are getting more confidant driving, more roads are getting gritted (now we are getting more salt from over seas) and businesses are forced to push on, fingers crossed everything will be back to normal soon.
Best of luck to everyone effected.0 -
rang my post office, business as normal 2day so dh has kindly offered to post everything on his way home to save me dragging dd out in it as shes now full of cold with an awful cough and i cant even open my car (to keep her out the cold a bit if i took her plus both our coats are stuck in there!) the locks are frozen have been all week lol
hes had to take everything to work with him on the bus at 6.30am take it to work then back home on the bus to get to post office before they close, bless him (on off chance they were open)Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Our "foot" postie has been delivering every day, so small purchases have made it through. But he told me that the sorting office had stopped vans going out with larger parcels as the residential areas here haven't been gritted. I know I normally complain about this, but I wish they'd send out the red "delivery" cards in these instances - I passed the SO on the way to the hospital during the week, could have collected some things.
Today we had a bin collection and then - hey presto - a RM van with all my missing parcels (some 10 days old). Presumably they figured if it was safe for bin lorries, it was safe for their vans.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Dunno about that, we have seen the postie this morning for the first time since the Saturday before Christmas!! I have had to go to the sorting office (over 20 miles away) to collect post which has been piling up in the depot. I can get out but they seem to think the only route to our village is over a very big steep hill, which admittedly I won't drive over just yet but there is another way out (and into) the village so we use that. (no reindeer involved!) The postie was most suprised to see us at the sort office!!You never know how strong you are until you have no other option.0

Mum in law had no bin collection today - which means she's had no bin collection since well before Christmas. I'm not holding my breath that we'll get one tomorrow either.
No post again today, No milkman, and I haven't seen the indefatigable Hermes ladies out and about either.
Our local Co-Op had no milk or bread today and quite patchy shelves, but it's up and down hills all the way to the out of town Tesco and I'm just fed up with falling over so I'll ask my son to pop in there later when he takes his girlfriend home. (She had to stay here for three days last week because the roads were impassable.)
Speaking of my son...He drove just over 500 yards in 90 minutes this morning because there were accidents blocking ALL the routes out of town and traffic was gridlocked throughout the town centre almost all the way back to our house! He rang work to say he was going to be late, and when he rang again an hour later to say that he hadn't moved, his boss told him to turn round and work from home again today. (Luckily he can do that in his line of work.)
I keep watching the Met office website to see if we're going to get this next round of snow or if things will start to get better for us anytime soon.
We've got to get to the orthodontist tomorrow with no car, skeleton service buses and 7 miles of ungritted road.
Fingers crossed for no more poxy snow!:DNot everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Has anyone else had problems posting due to the snow?
yes - I sold a couple of items at the weekend, payment was received by Monday so was going to post on way home from work Tuesday ...... but then it started to snow and it took me 5 hours to get home!
I emailed both buyers that evening to explain and that I would post as soon as I was able to get to a Post Office that was open. We haven't had post since last Monday (none delivered today either) although I think it is now leaving the Island.
Fortunately for me, both my buyers were understanding of the situation and both had also been affected by the snow. I had an email from ebay to say that there were advising buyers that their purchases may well be delayed due to the weather and to bear this in mind when leaving feedback about delivery time. It sounds as though you have done all that is reasonable for your buyers ............ all I can say is 'lucky them' if they have been unaffected by the weather - I had to walk to my 'local' supermarket to get some essentials which took 3.5 hours each way just to get some bread and milk!0 -

I sold a bundle of girls clothes and booked it in with my courier for collection on the 6th jan, it's still sitting here in my lounge now :0(
Luckily my buyer is very patient and i have been emailing her daily to keep her updated but i am sure alot of buyer are getting very cross and im sure sellers will be in for some neg's due to buyers not realising we can not spread wings and hand deliver items lol
I also sent a parcel out special delivery today and was toldby the post office that it is not guarnteed delivery by tommorow i replied with thats ok, unfortunaltly we can not help the weather and the item had to be sent via special delivery because of the value, i have let the customer know this and just hope they will be ok with it after all they can check on the postage that it was sent the day i said it would be.
On the other hand i am waiting on parcels from ebay too and have just accepted that due to the weather things are going to be delayed, i got my forst post today since the 6th jan,
