Today I got a letter from Sky saying they had credited my account with £20. This was in response to a letter of complaint I sent telling them of my ordeal phoning when my sky + box went wrong ( for the 3rd time ). it takes ages to get through on the phone (listening to what button to press for this or that). The girl then said she had to talk me through a procedure to put it right on line before they would allow an engineer to call. We then spent another 20 minutes being told to press this, turn this off, wait for this, turn this on, press this. We did have a picture before this ( albeit with ghosting ) but ended up with no access to Sky at all. She then tells me no engineer could call for 3 days. When the engineer did come he accepted it was a faulty box and changed it but this meant we lost all our christmas programmes that we were waiting to see ( Vicar of Dibley special and others ). The engineer admitted that although the box was faulty by keep switching it off and on and playing with it, it had hastened its demise. I 'ranted' all this in the letter I sent and was pleased to get the £20. Still don't know how this is credited to my account, does it come off my next monthly payment or is it sitting in my account off of a film or sporting event purchase. Still pleased to get it.
    Hi

This credit will automatically come off of your next statement/payment. Sky are really good with customer service. I phoned to change the date of our direct debit and then found out a few weeks later that the money came out of my account on the old date not the new one. Luckily the money was in there and wasn't need for anything else. I called and complained and got £94 pound credited to me, that's 2 months of sky for free! I didn't even need to raise my voice to them.

I have recently written to Fairy re their dishwasher fairy outburst tablets as the last few in the packet are stuck together as 1 or 2 have leaked the fairy liquid.

I've also written to Waitrose to complain about one of their icrecream products as the packaging inside was all sticky and gooey and the icecream itself had already formed ice crystals making it watery in taste. Last time I complained to them they sent a £5 voucher.

Inspired by this thread I wrote a letter of complaint after a recent nightmare train journey with First Capital Connect which took me two hours out of my way and led to me being abandoned at a station miles from my destination. Usually you get a refund for the train journey amount, in my case £3.00 but they also sent me a £10 rail voucher and more importantly an apology.

Complained to Wetherspoons about appalling service and they said they would do extra mystery shopper visits to the store but no vouchers :(

After a bit of advice really.
Bought two items from an online trader and only received one of the items.
Have been emailing, texting, phoning, opening support tickets, and leaving messages.

I even sent a private message to one of their staff and the responsi I got was:-

    WHAT I SENT
"A reply to the ticket would be appreciated.
I'm sure that you can understand my concern when 16.99 has been paid to you for an item I haven't received."

    REPLY I RECEIVED
"not that bothered cos its only £17 but £300 then i could understand.

    but then thats me

    **** ***"

    * = name removal

I was then told that the item might get sent out yesterday, it hasn't arrived.

It's been a week now, what should I do?
They don't seem to care about their customers.
    Was thinking of Trading Standars??

    how would you feel?

Complained to the Next directory about items I ordered for Christmas not coming in time - got £20 credited to my account.

Wouldn't have complained but this site inspired me as usual.

About this time last year I was travelling back from Stockport via Stoke to Loughborough.

Getting to Stoke via Virgin trains was no problem.

But once at Stoke station, my frist train was cancelled, the second train was delayed and when it finally arrived I was told I was not allowed on due to it being over crowded. I was given a new train time but this got cancelled. I was then told a bus would take me to Derby and I would have to get a train from there to Loughborough which was no problem, except when the (very delayed) bus finally arrived I wasn't allowed on because it was too full. I was told that the next bus would be there in an hour. By this time I was in tears because I was only 17, it was dark and I'd been there for three hours on my own.

Fortunatley the staff at Virgin Trains were excellent, letting me phone my mum numerous times to update her on my situation, and after explaining I had been there for nearly 3 hours they said Central Trains would not pay for a taxi they let me go into the First Class lounge where I could have any drinks or food I wanted. Even though the problem was not their responsibility. I emailed Virgin afterwards and thanked them for providing such a good level of service.

I wrote to Central trains and I recieved an apology and a £10 voucher, and an explaination that they couldn't remburse my family for having to drive to Stoke to pick me up.

I always find it best to mention it at the till if a product isn't to my liking. At homebase I mentioned the paper on a firework was ripped and got £5 off. At sainsburys one end of a pavlova box had been opened, got it for 99p instead of £2.99! I love asking for a discount, lol.

On another note I complained to Woolworths about poor customer service that I received from one of their Big W stores and the fact that some of my items hadn't been discounted properly. Never heard anything back. Has anyone else complained to Woolworths? If so what was the outcome?

    Yes
I had some absolutely fantastic service in John Lewis last week. I never bought the white goods I was looking for because unfortunately they didn't have just what I wanted. However, the person I spoke to was very friendly, polite and genuinely interested in me as a customer.

I am going to take time to write to the company and tell them just how fantastic this member of staff was. I might have let it slip my mind but reading some of these posts on here has made me sick to the stomach. Going by this forum, the amount of whining, whinging people retail staff members must have to put up with on a daily basis is quite appalling.

It wouldn't be so bad if customers are genuinely interested in helping improve services or the product. I have complained about services in the past myself and was more than happy when the company said it would look to improve. I certainly didn't expect any monetary compensation. But it seems that people will complain about any little thing on the offchance of getting free money/vouchers at the companies expense. As consumers we all end up paying for other people's greed in the end. If not monetarily then in the service that we receive when companies begin to doubt the sincerity of their customers.
