No - but it should be moved to another boardmisscomickat wrote: »I have complained to John Freida about their Colour Glaze product which left my hair in a disgusting greasy state.0

I'm new here so bear with me please! I came across this forum yesterday as I was looking for an address to send a complaint to Rimmel about false advertising (their maxx 10 day nail polish actually lasts about 2!). Anyhoo I got home last night and was making dinner when my hand blender made a strange noise and smoke was coming out of it. I switched it off and found that where there two parts fit together had become deformed (it looked like a mixture of melting and the inner workings grinding out the inside as there were shavings of plastic and the thread was mishapen) - so I walked around the corner to Tescos where it was purchased from to see customer services. I was told that as I had no receipt and no packaging (it was bought in Oct/Nov) that there was nothing she could do. I pointed out that it still had the Tesco label on it and she agreed it was their product. Apparently they only guarantee electrical goods for 28days! I asked to speak to the manager who came over and said "it's no use talking to me, I'm only going to tell you what she said" I was fuming by this time and explained the product wasn't fit for the purpose bought for. It wasn't even expensive but I'm angry at the rude attitude I was met with. Where do I go from here? I have phoned head office and they said a replacement was at the discretion of the store.0

Do you have a warranty for the hand blender? It could be worth contacting the manufacturer (if the manufacturer isn't Tesco's, that is).0

All there was with it was a leaflet, nothing that resembled a warranty. It is more a matter of principle now - if they had been polite when explaining what they could and couldn't do I probably would have just walked away (it was only a fiver!) but the woman at customer services and the manager were just so rude and flippant it made my blood boil. I used to work in customer services and I just would not have spoken to a customer like that. The girl on the cigarrette kiosk actually came over and interrupted to give me a number for their electrical helpline, she got filthy looks from the manager for her troubles.0

As far as i am aware its Law to provide at least 1 yrs warranty with all electrical items (most manufaturers are begning to supply 2 yrs)
I'd find out for sure then go back in with a print out telling him he is breaking the law!!0 -
How rude! Poor you. If you're still unhappy, complain again to Head Office - tell them you're complaining about the staff behaviour as well. Even if nothing comes of it, you'll feel better for making your dissatifaction known.
It's possible that they could be in the right re. the hand blender (although that doesn't excuse rudeness). I think you've got 28 days to take it back to the store and any time after that (within the warranty period) it goes to the manufacturer. Can anyone else confirm this?0 -
I have just got off the phone with HO customer services - this time I was alot calmer and also complained about the way I was treated. The gentleman apologised and said he would be speaking to the manager about the issue I had raised. More interestingly he did say that although there are no rules as to offering a replacement on goods that are clearly a Tesco product but are without proof of purchase and packaging, he did say he was VERY surprised that they had not offered me a replacement!
I guess now I never hear anything back!0 -
Good on you! Hope you get it sorted - keep us posted.0
