Hope you are one of 'those people'!!!!!
Haven't been on here much recently, have enjoyed catching up on your news, great about the backpay!!!!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Don't do it!
Unless you do a lot of motorway miles, big engined cars aren't really worth it. I've got a 2 litre, and it will reputatedly do just shy of 160 mph. How useful is that? Completely useless...

Oakdale .. hellooo..
I nipped on to this thread :: looks at watch:: at about 6pm.. Saw your first post where you mentioned getting CC's to reduce their interest rate.. PM'd you.. then noticed you had written more and more posts.. :T
Ive cooked dinner.. nipped out (and back) and just wanted to let you know at 15mins to TWO in the morning.. Ive fiiiiiinally made it to page 21.. haha.. I was thinking.. Oo I must get to the end of this.. (not tonight josephine) But I can see im going to have to visit a *few* more times to get up to date.. (im still bobbing around in November 06!)...
You write in such a interesting funny informative 'Real' way.. You sound like a really lovely personand following your story has been great! I cant wait to read more..
I was going to take my laptop to bed and read more until I fell asleep... but last time I did that I dropped it on the floor and broke a hinge on the lid!
I just want to echo what everyone else has been telling you.. (havent you got some lovely posts!).. I think you are a STAR!.. One day you will look back at this.. when you make your final payment.. see HOW far you've come.. on your own.. your own doing.. at working yourself soooo hard to get this out of the way.. and you are going to be so so SOOO proud of yourself.

OH is still banging on about a Rover. He went on and on last night about how much car I'd be getting for my money, why pay loads more when I could get a Rover........I said I felt I was too young to be driving a Rover
(before I go back to page 21  )
Im the same age as you and I have a Rover.. haha..
Its nippy and neat and tidy I like(d) it alot..
BUT
as someone already said.. about them not being made anymore.. The parts for mine have been costing a forrrtuuuune..
AND
Everything that COULD go wrong with it has done.
It has cost me soooo much money.
I know two people with the same *style* 214si Whose head gaskets went.. as did MINE! at £450. The central locking goes bananas sometimes and has refused to let me IN.. (resulting in AA rescue)..
Radiator.. Oil leaks.. (2) exhaust (many times) Wheel bearings.. pipes.. suspension.. Velocity gaitor joint (whatever the hell THAT is).. x 2.. Oh and a bunch of other mechanical stuff I dont understand (show me the lipstick!)..
EVERYTIME its gone through the MOT (3 times now).. its cost me lots.. I dread the MOT tests.. (its off to the garage tomorrow at 10am actually because its making a verreee strange noise)
Its truly cost me a LOT of money to keep it going.. it looks like a nice car.. but its a heap under the bonnet.. I would never get one again.
Each person Ive spoken to that has one like mine (rover 214 (si) has regretted it...
WHEN I get myself out of the financial mess im in.. Im going to get something MUCH more reliable.
(by the time i get out of my financial mess.. we will be driving cars that can fly to the moon on kangaroo juice) :eek:Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

2.09am Eupho?? Blimey, hope you are still tucked up in bed! (hopefully not cuddling the laptop!!!)
The Honda Civic I liked has sold, but, a Mondeo Ghia has come up. 1999, 53k on the clock. I like Mondeo's , I had a P reg one from new as a company car. It is for sale about a quarter of a mile from my house so I will be taking a slight diversion on the way home today. It is for sale at £2,495 and the book price is £1215!!!!
Gone off the Vectra well and truly after reading posts on the Vauxhall Owners forum. I'm not going to spend all that money and then think I might end up spending what I have left on repairs.
Still keep checking my bank balance!! Not including my o/d (because I'm classing that as paid now) I still have £2,554 left and it feel lovely!!! It is burning a hole in my pocket a tad with regards to the car, but I am gritting my teeth not to go out and satisfy the growing urge to spend!
Can't wait to be able to clear my remaining two CC's.
I might contact my bank and ask them to reduce my o/d limit right down to £300 or something similar. Not sure if I'm brave enough to cancel it altogether at the moment, it feels a bit like taking a security blanket off a baby.
ooooh, blimey, I did it. This post got stuck and in that time i've logged on to to bank account and put in a request to reduce my o/d limit to £300!!0 -

That's exactly what it is OM - a security blanket to cover up when things go a bit pear shaped. Keep it for when you have 'senior moments' and a bill goes out unexpectedly, knocking over your best laid plans (for example your DD for chocolates. DD FOR CHOCOLATES!!!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF WOMAN!!!!!! GET OVER TO MS OLD STYLE AND LEARN HOW TO KNIT YOUR OWN FROM POTATO PEELINGS!!!!!!)

Hi OM
I can't believe that I have sat up for the last 4-5 hours reading your thread from beginning to end. Well done you!! You've had a really tough time and are sorting your finances out. I'm even thinking of starting my own thread - although mine will be Debt Free by 43 (I hope!). You have given me the inspiration needed to get my ar*e into gear and get my college essays sorted (I also work full-time, have OH + 3 kids) so I know what you've been going through. I hope all goes well with your bank charge claims - I have also started the process with CC and bank accounts.
I shall be logging on daily from now on to see how things are going (OH went to bed in strop cos I wouldn't switch laptop off!!!) I'd better go to bed too - got be in work tomorrow by 8am.
Thanks you for posting such an entertaining and informative thread.Proud to be dealing with my debts

wish-i-was-rich - thankyou, you've made me smile and feel all warm!!
I was feeling really down last night and was on the verge of closing the diary and hiding away.
Mad and bizarre as this will sound, the car thing is starting to stress me out. Went to look at the Mondeo - too expensive and went to look at a Vectra - put off by the fact apparently the automatic often cuts out on corners and roundabouts like my Carlton used to. I don't want that again! I know it is the luck of the draw, but that was scary.
The Escort is out, it has a CVT transmission and it seems this was a Daf/Volvo invention and is very very unreliable.
Off to see a BMW today, but it is dear. I just want to have a look.
I'm scared to spend the money to be honest. I think - spend £900 and I might break down because it is a banger. Spend £2000 and if it breaks down I've put all my eggs into one basket money wise.
Weird that having money and choice can be stressful!0
