  • Hi Oakdale, I havent posted here for awhile but im impressed. You are doing so well.

    Regarding your car

Im not so sure about a Rover. Firstly, they no longer make them, so spares should you have problems with it, could become harder and harder for garrages to get hold of them.

Also, whatever car you are going for always check its fuel efficiency. Try and aim for 35 mile/g for unleaded and 43 miles/g for Diesel. Fuel is guaranteed to get more and more expensive so this is quite an important factor to think about.

    Re: Cruella

Keep a log of everything mean she is doing recording time/date/event so should she do anything really bad towards you you can hand her superior a comprehensive log of what shes like.

Re your loan, rather than try and reduce the term so severely that you put yourself at risk if the AQA doesn't remain consistent or, God forbid, some disaster occurs, why not allocate the extra you'd be prepared to pay into a savings jar for 12 months and see how you go. If after 12 months things have gone ok then pay the saved cash into the loan and then tweak the loan term.

Or have I got things wrong?

You're doing really well, and I can see how keen you are to get shot of the loan, but don't leave yourself vulnerable.

I would second that. Better to have options than to break your back to pay it off before you're 40, which is, after all, just a number.

OK, I think I will take it down to 4 years then and see how things are next Feb/March. I don't know if I can make an overpayment, but I will ask when I phone in the next couple of weeks to chop a year off.

OH has changed the record to 'buy private, it's cheaper'. I try to explain that I AM looking at private ads also but there aren't any worth considering yet. He just keeps reading ads from the freeads and saying 'see, that's cheap - you should buy from a private ad, not a garage'....even thought 95% of them are manual or have a through the roof mileage......he is determined I won't buy that Escort. Every time I mention it he ignores what i've said and says something unrelated. I wonder if it is because he thinks it is a good buy and doesn't want to admit it because I found it, not him.

Well couldn't you just take it down to a year's duration in two years time and use your savings to make the higher payments (IYSWIM)?

Hi...I've not posted on your thread before, but I think you're doing wonderfully well!!

It's just that the above bit I've quoted made me think, isn't it tiring to be around someone like that? My ex-bf (that's best friend, not boyfriend :rotfl: ) I found to be constantly picking at things and being all superior when their opinion was no more - or less - valid than my own.

I'm with those who say that 'pretty' should be high on the list of considerations. My dad despairs!!

  • I always thought you were loads younger than me beanie!

Well, AQA money went into my bank account today - and £530 of it went straight back out again to clear another credit card! Another to be popped into the freezer in the tub when I get home! £20 leftover, i'll transfer that to my holiday beer money fund.

I'm going to class my overdraft as paid off because I won't be spending all the money that is in my account before my bank charges (hopefully!!) get refunded.

I'll change my sig! That means I have 2 CC's to go, Barclaycard and RBS.

Today at 4.00pm is the deadline for bundles to be submitted. I've not had any sent to me yet for either of my Abbey claims or my Citicards claim. If they aren't in by first thing in the morning, there is a letter I can use to send to the Judge to highlight this. I want to particularly highlight the citicards situation as they still haven't put in a defence even though they were told to by a Judge months ago.

ah yes, had a bit of a succumbing to temptation moment last night.......ahem.......I blame MSE.......there is a thread on the shopping board about the Thorntons Christmas hamper being reduced from £100 to £30 and a code to get it to £24.......and then 12% off via quidco........whoops.........

Do we cross our fingers that they do or don't submit by 4pm?

  • hope that they don't ! (particularly citi)

robnye - after all the chocolate and the two bottles of wine that is in the hamper, the thud will be a lot harder than now! But (trying to justify spending the money!) it is the only thing I've treated myself to since getting the back pay and i've promised the office I'll bring a box in to share. The picture of it has gone now, it is out of stock but there are 5 boxes of chocolates, 2 bottles of wine and LOADS of luvverly bars and packs of chocolate in it!
