This is the car
http://users.autoexposure.co.uk/pdfs/4928287_050207083219.pdf
It is at a branch in Bournemouth so I wouldn't be able to go until next weekend.
Crime rates where I live are very very low. I live on a very quiet road, the only people who come down it are residents.
OH is still banging on about a Rover. He went on and on last night about how much car I'd be getting for my money, why pay loads more when I could get a Rover........I said I felt I was too young to be driving a Rover, but he still kept going!!!!!
Bunny - he was born in St Catherine's.
Found another £5 a month to save. I had forgotten that I have a quarterly direct debit for Chocolate Club chocolates. A box arrived last week with a direct debit taken of £16. I've cancelled it.
I've also found another £270 worth of bank charges I haven't claimed back......0 -
Buy what you can afford and what you feel most comfortable driving.
Given that you got unexpected money last week, you can afford slightly more if you need to or want to.
It is your money and it is your car. No one else can tell you what to do.
If he wants a Rover, tell him to buy one himself.
Trust your instincts, they will usually prove to be right.

It looks lovely! I can't imagine you getting stuck half way up the drive in that one. Mileage looks quite low too. You can't even compare it with a Rover....I agree with hypno6, trust your instincts, they are usually right in the end!Lightbulb moment 30/10/06Debt at highest (30/10/06) £24 816Debt on 06/01/09 £2500Bank Charges Reclaimed from NatWest £14000

Morning OM
I agree with the above. Actually Honda and Rover are very similar they use some of the same engines, many mechanical parts are common and some body panels are the same. The only real difference is Honda is still in business!
The reason why you are getting so much car for your money with the Rover is because it has high depreciation, this will continue particularly as Rover is now bust.
I have a Honda, it has two less wheels than a Rover but I wouldn't swap.
Good luck

OM,
St. Catherines isn't THAT far from where I am from (Toronto)
You're a fellow Canuck!
How's it goin' eh?

Please please please don't buy a Rover. They are well known for having to have the head gasket repaired, this happened to me and cost me £500. One of my friends ended up having to have her engine replaced as it totally knackered her engine up and I've heard of a few other people who have had the same trouble with Rovers that were registered between 1997-2000.I :heart2: saving money0

Bunny you've made my day - I used to live in Toronto and I miss people saying eh sooooo much! My friends all take the mick when I say it without realising  Sorry OM, just had to share how much that cheered me up! Make sure whatever car you get is pretty - and more importantly, what are you going to name it?2007 Bronze Olympic Challenge: Total £1057.34 :jDFW Nerd 269: Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -

Looks very nice. My Dad had one of those - he loves Hondas and also only has automatic cars. He liked it, his only complaint was the "lack of gee-gees". He liked Preludes though..
So either that or the ford.oakdale_minx wrote:Crime rates where I live are very very low. I live on a very quiet road, the only people who come down it are residents.
So you're not too worried about having to have a banger in order that it's still there in the morning.oakdale_minx wrote:OH is still banging on about a Rover. It's not the fact you're too young - it's the fact they are bust.- You don't have a guaranteed supply of spare parts.
- There are no mechanics' training courses/materials any more.
- They went bust for a reason - they were crap.
They are cheap for a reason. It's the overall lifetime cost you need to look at.oakdale_minx wrote:Found another £5 a month to save. I had forgotten that I have a quarterly direct debit for Chocolate Club chocolates. A box arrived last week with a direct debit taken of £16. I've cancelled it.

I must get a hair cut. I only had it cut twice last year and it is getting to the stage when I look less Kate Bush and more Worzel Gummidge. We have a hairdressers on site and a cut and blow dry is only £14.50. I've never tried it, but it does seem a good price. I have noticed a whole load more grey hairs than I had three months ago and I want to colour it. I might colour it myself to save money, but I do fancy treating myself and having it highlighted professionally. Can't justify paying £70 though, so I think I will do it myself!
Cruella is doing my head in. Yesterday, she told me to send a load of documents in a particular format to someone. I asked whether they should be converted first and she said 'no, let them do that themselves'. An email has come back suggesting they are converted first and she has said 'yes, I agree, I did ask O_M to discuss this with you first and by way of this email will ask her to convert them first'.
NO SHE DIDN'T !!!!! SHE SAID JUST SEND THEM!!!
Went to look at a BMW yesterday. Lovely car, but too old (1991). It has come back to the Escort or the Civic again, but spending well over £2,000 on a car does scare me a bit - I'm a bit scared to spend the money in case something happens and I end up regretting it. A 1998 Honda Accord has come up today, so that might be a good halfway between the Escort and the Civic.0
