Morning O-M! I used to work for Chubb Fire and their prices for extinguishers are quite reasonable if you buy direct - ADT also do good prices. give your home insurance people a buzz as they sometimes offer discounts as well...;)0

Well, got to work in one piece, didn't go bang!
Managed to get a slot for my shopping delivered today so I don't have to drive to the supermarket tonight. Used a £10 off voucher with Asda so got the shopping cheaper anyway.
Okey, dokey, have I got my pay rise.......let's check my online banking......fingers crossed..........oooooooooooh, yes!!!! £1,735!!! That's £210 a month more !!! wow!!!! More than I expected.
Think I'll buy an extinguisher as well......I'll check out argos in a minute.......
Well, the extra £210 means that's 6 months car tax covered that I have to buy today as well as the £70 cheque that went towards the work on the car last week that he will bank tomorrow and should cover the work to stop the oil burning when I have that done on Monday. Excellent.
Hi OM! Wow that's excellent news about your payrise. I hope that means that you can use a little of your AQA money now to treat yourself - you really deserve it :beer:Dealing with my debt and my weight

Hi,
I was reading your post, can you let me know how it was going with the Reclaiming of charges with Abbey, was astounded to see that you received 4 years of back statements, cause I requested the 6 years, and only received 18 months, and they told me the rest were unavailable due to the fact they were on micro film.
I know I have no where near as much owed, but like you I suddenly ill last christmas and was hospitalised therefore was not physically much less mentally able to make sure my payments were being made. Not all my cards are direct debited.
I too am now looking into get a new bank account in case they get funny, but I have not done anything other than request back statements at this time to try and collect information.
Can you please let me know what your end result was with Abbey. Did you need the other bank account?
thanks

Had only just moved here back in 1992 and my ex and me had a Capri (stylish huh?! ) He was waiting to get the chain ferry back and there was smoke coming from under the bonnet. I wasn't with him, but he had three kids in the car he was bringing back from a schools tennis match (ex is a teacher) Because the chain ferry was by now on his side of the water, it was a 25 mile trip for the Fire Brigade to reach him.....slight write off.........
If he'd had a powder fire extingusher, it would have been - pop the bonnet and give it a bit of a blast.

Hi Lucy - both of my Abbey claims have court dates of 22 February, so I'm hopeful that both will settle just before, but I will have my court bundles sent off to court in plenty of time beforehand.
The Abbey haven't done anything at all (so far) but as soon as they pay out I will clear the overdraft first in case they withdraw it.
Luckily, I got all my statements before they started to get funny about sending them out and started bleating about the microfiche system (I requested mine in March!). They have been told the microfiche argument isn't a valid one so I would have a look at the CAG website if you need some advice.
Good luck claiming - don't give up!0 -

No, not yet, I'm hoping to get that in the end of January salary, although it might be the end of February.
I'm hopeful also.........gulp.......0 -

aah, but we were young and foolish and a fire extinguisher would have been far too sensible!!!
Fun???!!!! I guess if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction, I could give myself a nice Father Christmas-esque type beard with the powder??? Or bad dandruff at the very least.........0 -

That's what parents are for - I got mine given at 17. Which I guess should be a prompt for me to get a new one. Probably squeeze the handles these days just to get a loud farty noise... :eek:oakdale_minx wrote:Fun???!!!!
