I am annoyed that those of us who work yet are well within the £16000 income bracket are again excluded from schemes aimed at those on a low income.

Are you joint to your local Freecycle?? Because i have seen people offering refurbished PCs out to people who need them in my area, might be worth asking on your one if anyone has a spare Tower?? or full PC

It looks to me like the "free" educational software drives the price over the value of the grant.

Might be worth payin the extra for the software if it was any good, think its about 20 or something

  • I just received my Child Benefit letter, only I didn't!! My address, my childs name and date of birth, but someone elses name, NI no and CHB no.

I phoned Child Benefit Centre and their sympathetic response is that I now go to the back of the queue to get another letter and they are taking six weeks. I did point out to the woman that it was unfair for me to wait again, and her response was that "there are people who need these letters more than you wanting a computer". Great to see the customer service training is up to scratch then!

I am so angry and upset. I just waited nearly four months to get my ESA and my MP had to give them a rocket in the end to resolve it. How dare this lady pass judgement on anyone's level of need, knowing zero about their personal circumstances?

If anyone here is a Mrs S E Bartram, ( I won't give full details of course) then I may have your letter if it helps you, so please pm me.

Do you have a cb letter for dec 2008? I sent that with my application form after one of the advisors said they accepting them because they are aware of situation that this was the last one sent out automatically. Anyway my grant award letter has arrived today so they accepted it as per the info I was given on Home access line when I rang.

    Thats what I did.

Ordered a Toshiba 450 from ci home access on Thursday last week, it was delivered on Monday.

I paid £30 extra for the 2gb model...works brilliantly...set up parental timer controls.

I've limited our choice down to two laptops but I'm struggling to see which of the following is better. Can anyone help?

P.S. have to have t-mobile as there's no "3" coverage round here.

    toshiba L450D http://www.xma4ha.co.uk/Brands/Brands_Toshiba.aspx

    samsung R519 http://www.xma4ha.co.uk/Brands/Brands_Samsung.aspx

only difference i can see is that the toshiba has a slightly faster processor.

Can anyone who knows more about computers comment please?
  • I've asked this question and got no response yet. I think despite the ghz that the Intel processor is the better one, tho I have a feeling the onboard graphics on the Toshiba is better.

How did you manage to get it for £30? On the site it says £50.
