I recently found out about this scheme. For a change it was really easy to do. I phoned the number, they sent me an application form. You have to provide evidence that you are entitled to it, I think you may not need to if your child receives free school meals.
It took about 10 days from me applying to finding out that we would get a grant, wow how quick! I am waiting for the card to come through now so I haven't actually purchased yet.
I quite like the look of the stone group as you can upgrade if you pay extra (which is what I am thinking of doing for his b'day present).
I do think there should be something in place to stop those idiots out there from re-selling them on. I wouldn't dream of doing that and I am sure most parents out there wouldn't either!
My son is going into secondary school in September so think it will be wonderful for him. There is no way I would be able to afford this otherwise.
It doesn't matter if you have another computer in the house. My advice, apply if you are eligible, it makes a wonderful change to have something nice happen for a change!0 -

I have been thinking about the Home Access laptop on Ebay I wonder if lots of people complained would they do anything anyone interested in doing it? If EBay stopped people listing them it would close one possible abuse. I have read some where they are available only on a first come first served basis some child would be glad of that laptop I know my little girl could never have had one without the grant.0

Hi, i have just received the entitlement letter for my y8 daughter, and have been looking at the different suppliers, as well as reading most of the posts here (though not all as my youngest keeps interrupting me, so apologies if i have missed it) and was wondering if anyone had any opinions re BLi education's offer - specifically the free educational software.
I am not very technical at all, and to be honest, a lot of the different laptop specs are going right over my head - at the moment i think we would go for the positive one, as it now included Office. But, am considering BLi, as my oldest (who the laptop is for) could use the older kids software, and my youngest (age 3) can make a start with the younger kids version.
My big sticking point though, is that while i can recall various posts praising Positive, i cant seem to recall any for Bli - but as i say, youngest was racing about, so i may have missed any.
would love some pointers please?0 -
Some were having problems with slow delivery from Bli, but I have to say the software certainly looks good.0
