What does that have to do with the student noise?

Have you never heard of google maps? Did you not go and see the place before you signed up to live there?

    I couldn't see it:
Originally, I was place in somewhere unsuitable and explained to them (it was also on the form I filled in) that I have severe bowel problems and need my own toilet and washing facilities.

I signed the form on so that I wouldn't be homeless. They then put me somewhere else which I had never visited before. (because there's no chance to visit it on campus tours - it's that far away)

Well, for a start, I wasn't informed that I would be living 2 minutes from a police station and would hear sirens almost all the time.

How come you didn't check the area out before you signed the contract? I would have thought that prospective students could visit the halls during open/applicant days.

ETA: I just saw your response. Please forgive me, but signing for a property sight unseen is potentially a recipe for disaster.

We were only able to see the one that was across the road - not the one 2 bus rides away (around 3 miles) or the one around 20 minutes away. (where I lvie now)

I'm hopefully off to uni in September, and want an ensuite room (me being a diva and all! :rotfl:), with relative peace, so I'll be looking for private accommodation. Most students in halls are leaving home for the first time and are getting their first taste of freedom-perhaps you didn't take that into account when considering your living arrangments. I'm not a legal expert, but as you signed your halls contract, I really don't think you have a leg to stand on, I'm afraid.
Have you spoken to whoever's in charge at the halls?

Cotton wool in your lugs would be nice and soft and comfy.

Do the buses have ensuite facilities?

My husband has some ear plugs that are squishy like blu-tak. You have to warm them by rolling them around in your hands and then stick them in your ears and they mould to the shape of your ears.

He hates ear plugs but he works shifts and can't sleep during the day in the school holidays due to noise from our children and children playing outside. However he manages fine with these ones. He says they are really comfortable and he sleeps on his side too.

Here I go again on my own....

    What, you got no ears?

Seriously, I get the impression that you're going to bring up an objection to every solution we offer. It sounds like you've moved into student halls, can't afford it, and now you're looking for a way to move out.

Did you honestly believe before you moved in that you wouldn't be disturbed at silly times in the night by other students? If you really believed that it would be peaceful then stop studying now, because your degree will be worthless when interviewers realise that you've got no common sense.

Spot on. The OP is an AE of Titch89, and basically thinks that the world owes her a living. Some of their posts (the ones that have not been deleted) make for interesting reading! ;)

Could you not arrange a swap with the author of the thread "Help -Fraud Gym Membership"?

They took membership of a gym ,over the phone without seeing it,now are not satisfied with the standard of the gym they never viewed.

You would be perfect for each other.
  • That's ridiculous. Yes you would expect student halls to be louder than an old people's home but you don't expect them to be completely unliveable.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't students there to STUDY as well as go out drinking all the time. And study would usually require some peace and quiet.

I would write to the accomodation office setting out your position, that you are unable to live there and that the accomodation that they have provided is not satisfactory. Sometimes it's better to do these things in writing so that there's a record of exactly what you've said.
