I CAN afford it; but not £110 plus a week especially on a place I am not living in plus another place.

I do have ears; but ear plugs seriously mess them up and it's the reason why I get blocked ears.

Ear muffs? (The sound proofing ones obviously).

Sound proof your room partially. Put curtains round your bed from a hook in the celling. behind your door to deaden the noise. earmuffs.

I can't wear earmuffs I can't sleep on my back (because it's uncomfortable) and wearing earmuffs and having to sleep on my side is painful. (I know - I've done it before)

Not allowed to put hooks or anything like that up.

Are you related to studentphil?

Can you please answer those of us that have asked whether you really didn't anticipate these problems when opting to live in halls?

Well, for a start, I wasn't informed that I would be living 2 minutes from a police station and would hear sirens almost all the time.

Which Uni is it? Want me to call up the people responsible for the property and get permission to put up some small hooks for you?

Look, if you call reception or whoever, and just say "I'm struggling to sleep at night, I would like to put up a small rail. I'll need to put 5 small hooks in the ceiling that I'll remove and polyfiller over when I leave, does that sound okay?" I doubt very much they're going to say no.

It actually says in the contract that we're not allowed to do that.

Which is why I advised to call them to make an exception.

Hell, I would just go ahead and do it anyway. Then I'd fix it before I left. You're just being petty, stupid, obnoxious, lazy, thick, problematic, negative and annoying. You're making your own problems.

Build a frame out of 50mm by 50mm and hang curtains or fabric from it. wear a benny hat down over your ears. Do some drugs to get to sleep, I don't care. you sound like a whiny milksop to me.

What does that have to do with the student noise?

Have you never heard of google maps? Did you not go and see the place before you signed up to live there?
