because a weekend in january is just inside our budget, a week in august is completely outside of our budget, its either go when its cold and wet, or dont go
Usually we have a great time, wrap up warm, bike rides, cosy log fires and plenty of swimming, a bit of rain doesnt spoil it for us.
Hopefully we will get there next week, and if we do im sure it will look snowy and beautiful too!"I AM NOT SHOUTING"0 -
it is hard to read a post which is written in capital letters. It does also seem as if the op is shouting. Funny how easy it can be to put people off reading a post. It does now look as if the caps lock key has been fixed and so the discussion can continue at a quieter level!"I AM NOT SHOUTING"0

i don't think the op was referring to the access road but to the a66 from penrith. The a66 has been closed at the snow gates between brough and bowes, so anyone visiting whinfell would be forced to travel via the m6 and back down the a66, rather than up from scotch corner. I was looking into this myself as we were thinking about booking for in a couple of weeks time. Might just take the risk as whinfell is currently quite a bit cheaper than sherwood, although sherwood is probably more easily accessible."I AM NOT SHOUTING"0

Calm down!
Did I say I was cross? I was just trying to explain that it can be difficult, as some posters have said, to read a post written in capitals. I also said it "seems" as if the OP is shouting.

It is a fact of internet etiquette that posts written in all capitals are construed as shouting, which is rude. If you weren't previously aware of this I apologise for pointing it out in my earlier post pictorially, but it seems likely that this has been mentioned to you before hence your signature.
It is also a fact of life that if you want help and advice, the onus is on you to ensure your post is easy to understand, and all caps can be very hard to read.0 -
i just wanted to let you know that center parcs in winfell are not dealing with the cold weather as you might hope. It is freezing..you could see your breath in the bowling alley. The radiators do not give out enough heat to warm the lodges(we were in a lakeside lodge). The towels freeze overnight and you dare not get out of bed for the loo! Take lots of warming items with you and a couple of fan heaters.. I ended up using the hairdryer to take the chill off my bed. Having said that.. The snow made it very beautiful.
Just wondering did you overide the lodge central heating controls? we've had to do that a few times when we ve stayed in very cold weather and will no doubt be doing it again next week! I ve stocked up on fuel logs to take with us as well cos they are so expensive on site. Hope you had a good time though.0 -
It's not just Whinfell, if staying at any CP site you'll need to adjust the heating in your villa. The temps are set very low and do need to be adjusted in winter. We always do this, it's easy now all villas have individual controls. Christmas was very toasty0

We just returned from Whinfell after spending the weekend (8th - 11th) there. The drive up was brilliant over the M62/M6 as no one else was travelling. It was lovely. We went bowling on the 9th, no problem with the level of heating! Our lodge was nice and warm as were the sports centre, lakeside inn and the village centre. Our towels did not freeze! I can only assume that the heating in your lodge was not working properly. And yes, the snow made it stunning!0
