Friday is changeover day so that would mean all the people who should be leaving would have had to stay an extra night

Good thought! Let us get in...then snow us in...please, snow us in for a fortnight:j!!!

"im sorry but for health and safety reasons all current guests will have to stay and carry on enjoying yourselves":rotfl: Yipee!
  • Had to ring Centre Parcs today for another reason and asked about all this. The access road to Whinfell has been passable all week and people can get in and out. They have refused to reimburse people who have chosen not to travel because of the weather, Whinfell is open and operating normally.

If the access road was impassable and the centre closed they would refund.

I don't think the OP was referring to the access road but to the A66 from Penrith. The A66 has been closed at the snow gates between Brough and Bowes, so anyone visiting Whinfell would be forced to travel via the M6 and back down the A66, rather than up from Scotch Corner. I was looking into this myself as we were thinking about booking for in a couple of weeks time. Might just take the risk as Whinfell is currently quite a bit cheaper than Sherwood, although Sherwood is probably more easily accessible.
  • Surely, if an insurance company fails to pay out because it's "an act of God", then you could take them to court?

The onus would then be on them to prove God not only exists, but was actually controlling the disputed catastrophe?:A

I'd love to see anyone from Centre Parks proving that particular nugget in a courtroom!:rotfl:

Because a weekend in January is just inside our budget, a week in August is completely outside of our budget, its either go when its cold and wet, or dont go:confused:

Usually we have a great time, wrap up warm, bike rides, cosy log fires and plenty of swimming, a bit of rain doesnt spoil it for us.

Hopefully we will get there next week, and if we do Im sure it will look snowy and beautiful too!

Me and a group of about8 friends go in January because 1) not too many kids 2) easier to get time off work and 3) we can go in the most expensive lodge with the jacuzzis saunas etc etc for just under £80 per person for the week :)

ooops - managed to quote the wrong post but you know what I mean :p

I AM DUE WITH FAMILY TO GO TO THE CENTER PARCS WHINFELL FOREST THIS WEEKEND. AS ALL OF YOU KNOW WE HAVE BEEN HAVING BIT OF SNOW. I LIVE IN LEEDS, THE ROUTE WE WOULD TAKE UP THE A1 IS CLOSED, THE ALTERNATIVE IS GOING OVER TO MANCHESTER AND UP THE M6 TO PENRITH. THATS FINE.. UNLESS THE 5 MILE ROAD TO CENTER PARCS IS CLOSED!? WE SHALL SEE BUT IT WAS YESTERDAY. WE THOUGHT WE WOULD BE ALRIGHT THOUGH AS WE HAD PAID THE CENTER PARCS £20 INSURANCE (FOR A WEEKEND). NOT SO .. ITS NOT WORTH THE PAPER ITS WRITTEN ON. IT COVERS YOU IF THERE WAS WAR AND YOU WERE CALLED UP, ALL THE USUAL CATASTROPHIES THAT YOUR NORMAL INSURANCE WOULD. IT DOES NOT COVER IF YOU CAN NOT GET INTO THE PARK DUE TO THE ROADS OR EVEN THEIR ROAD BEING CLOSED? SO BEWARE.. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

Sorry can't read this. Too sore on the eyes. Looks like you're mad though? (Wild guess by the choice of smiley.)

It is hard to read a post which is written in capital letters. It does also seem as if the OP is shouting. Funny how easy it can be to put people off reading a post. It does now look as if the caps lock key has been fixed and so the discussion can continue at a quieter level!
