Wombling for extra clubcard points....

How can CS report you for wombling when they can't prove it???

Because some people aren't clever when they do it, they blatenly walk up till checking reciepts and hand in 10 reciepts which are all screwed up and paid for in different ways all minutes apart. If CS see you doing it then obviously they can prove it. As I say, not many CS staff will bother reporting you, and most people on here are clever enough when doing it. Was just giving a warning to anyone who's thinking of doing it without working it all out (times etc)
  • i said earlier in this thread that CS staff are monitored as to how many manual clubcard points they add - a print can be done showing when, how many, clubcard number and original receipts details for each transaction they would do - if the store is really strict you can get disciplined for working outside the rules (often set by store manager).

The receipts found with the barcodes cut off are probably ones that have had the points added and the barcode removed by CS and given back to customer who has then chucked them wherever. As far as checkout staff whipping out their own clubcard to add points you are not allowed to carry your own card and regular searches take place to stop this - also every card is traceable and again the same cashier processing the same card too often would throw up a report for investigation.

......Tesco budget for this 'discount' (ie 1%), this cost is built in to their costs and if people throw the receipts away without claiming the points that is merely an extra 1% on Tesco's profits (you are not stealing from Tesco !)..........

    Nuff said.

I'm sure losses through shoplifting is probably budgeted in to their costs too; does that mean nicking a few bits the next time we're shopping is also acceptable?
    Reassuringly expensive

What an absolutely daft arguement !!!!!
BOGOF's are budgeted too - does this make taking Tesco up on these is tantamount to stealing too ????

Theft IS budgeted for as part of 'Shrinkage' (which also includes stock write off). Trust me it is an extremely tight budget each year (tighter year on year) and failure to operate within that budget leads to MANY Store Manager's seeking employment with other companies.
Whereas if EVERY single customer were to claim EVERY single Clubcard point I can assure you the Manager would not sweat in the slightest as his job would be quite safe !
  • Wombling is not stealing as you are not taking something off someone. these are points people don't want. I womble, however I am careful, will take only one receipt in at a time, and will only do it if I find large receipts.

  • Unbelievable stories in this thread!! Two weeks ago at my Tesco, the people in front of me had loads and loads of shopping without showing any card at all (they paid in cash). I asked the customer very nicely, if they did not have a Clubcard, could their points be added onto my card which they agreed to as I had waited so long for their shopping to be processed! The guy on the checkout was absolutely fine with it. I got about 210 points!! As always, it depends on the employees of Tesco at that time!!!
  • i can't believe this subject has prompted so much debate!
if one person doesn't claim their points then it's hardly stealing for someone else to have them - especially if the original person has littered the street by dumping the recipt on the floor.

and if we're going to get into the realms of 'it's stealing from tesco' then just remember that tesco steals from the food manufacturer's everytime they accept a money off coupon when you haven't bought the item.

    tit for tat :)

Not quite wombling as such, but I went to tesco this morning, spent about £46 and it was only when I was leaving I saw the posters for 5p off every litre of petrol if you spend over £50. "Curses" I thought, if I'd realised I'd have spent afew more quid to get the vouchers. Anyway I was putting my bags in the car and I looked down and there, floating in a puddle, was a 5p off petrol voucher!! Hooray!! So it's drying nicely on a radiator as we speak.

    Jxxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • I can't for the life of me imagine what law you're breaking if you pick up a recepit and claim clubcard points...
