This is precisely the same as someone deciding they do not wish to partake in the clubcard scheme - the discount has already been accounted for in the price !!!!!!!!!

    Exactly.
When I go to a store where I don't carry a loyalty or there is no point getting one as I use the store so infrequently, I have been know to offer my points to the person behind - no problem in the eyes of the cashier.

Tesco don't match credit cards to persons - everyone has more than one payment cards, do they say get out your credit cards so I can check these receipts are yours? If they hold a databse of everyones credit cards and corresponding names then only high level staff will be able to get access - not worth the effort unless a big abuser.
What about other family members credit cards -
They gave out key fob clubcards and tell people to hand them around the family so you all can have a central point collection - doesn't say we will call the police of your family member has a different surname on their credit card and you later collect the points.

I have 1500ish clubcard points already. Would you say this is excessive? Anyone got more?

    Don't worry about 1500 points !!!!!
I don't womble (as I said in earlier post - not because I disagree with it just because I am too lazy) and I usually have 5000-6000 points at the end of each quarter (ie when the vouchers are sent out).
I make use of extra clubcard vouchers on the home delivery front to help maximise my points.

There was someone on here who had a letter from Tescos regarding the high level of manual clubcard points being added by CS. Coupon-mad was that you ? I have looked in my local store but I never seem to find any to use, obviously my local branch is receipt aware !

    Welshy x

Hi Welshy, yes it was me and a couple of other posters here too! I got the letter a couple of weeks after posting my last comment here in June (see above).

I obviously overdid it, I think because I wombled every little 3-pointer (or more) I could find, sometimes found 2 or 3 receipts with the same date on and put the points on the same clubcard. I had the points put on at different times and on different days at CS, but later noticed that the manual updates include the date of the shopping transaction..........so HO can easily see that someone has bagged loads of receipts all dated the same day!

I did get my vouchers from Tesco in August though, thank goodness! I have not wombled at all on my card since the warning letter although I did put a 115-pointer on my Mum's card as it was too good to throw away. Don't worry I won't womble madly on her card and get her sent a letter....I am going to apply for another clubcard or two for my OH and son.

  • in my small local tesco it's a running joke that the security gaurd is always picking up reciepts and having them added on to his clubcard!
personally i would only do it if it was a big reciept because the cs already know me from doing a few r&r's!

  • I'm not brave enough to ask at CS I post mine off. I have a tesco credit card and a clubcard plus and I've been alternating the fruits of wombling between the two. However the other day I got lucky and got 3 high value ones on the same day so I'm going to go and apply for a few regular clubcards in my boyfriends name (he doesn't set foot in supermarkets if he can help it never mind remember to use a clubcard) as I don't want to do more than one manual addition on the same card with the same date on.

  • Dawn1 if you did want to post them off someone on here put the address on somewhere which is how I got it (thanks to that person :)) but if you want it let me know and I'll repost it when I'm at my other computer.

Also oddly enough at my tesco's there are often receipts lying around outside with the barcodes already snipped neatly off with scissors (must be a tesco employee who can scan their own) so someone has often beaten me to it. What I can't understand with regards to that is why they then chuck the rest of the receipt back down on the floor again.

I can't understand how people can take the pee out of this. I don't do it, but it sounds like a great idea! As stated in many posts, Tesco are NOT losing out, in fact, the consumer is if they don't collect!

This is a MONEY SAVING site, and the moto is 'every penny counts. Well, with these points, every point is in fat 4p in deals, a 100 point receipt is £4 in deals! If thats not saving money, I don't know what is!
  • A friend of mine (who knows that I collect Clubcard points) was telling me a third hand story about someone in the East Yorkshire area who was "wombling" and taking in about 20 receipts a day.

He had apparently accrued about £5-£6K in points (not sure whether this figure had been converted to clubard deals or not) over a period of about 8 months.

He was eventually stopped by the police who are investigating.
