:T Well I have thanked you for your original post anyway, it made me laugh! I don't see how picking up bits of litter outside can be illegal (dropping litter is against most byelaws though, maybe posters should redirect the criticism to the litter-louts!!).

Seriously, I had a giggle at your post OP because I do all of the above and it's well worth the Clubcard points. Why shouldn't we pick them up, they will otherwise only be grabbed by a Tesco trolley boy who will then sell them on eBay (take a look everyone under 'Tesco points' in the tickets & travel section). I know they are not allowed to but I know they do it (have seen them). :D

Well I also do this and it has increased my points this year by almost half. I have different cards so that it is not just one card which has all the points added onto. Also my hubby is on the road all the time and forgets to use his card so I do genuinely have to have points added on.

Yes, but I wouldn't then go and pretend it had been mine all along.

Don't you think Tesco are getting just a BIT suspicious that you're spending £10,000 a week on lots of credit cards in other people's names?

In fact, almost every dropped receipt is a small one, paid by cash. Usually under 20 points on them but I just wait till I get 3 or 4 (with different dates on them) then take them to Customer Service saying that my brother doesn't believe in Clubcards and can they credit the points please?

There is no lie there - my brother doesn't believe in giving anyone any details about himself (whereas I will sign my email address to any athletes foot website or similar, just to get sent a 50p coupon!). I don't say the receipts are mine (or even his) but they are always happy to add the points.

If Tesco really wanted to stamp this out they could easily start 'validating' coupons like they do in Boots (where you can only collect the points later if you have asked for your receipt to be marked accordingly). Until Tesco do so, I will happily continue to do my bit for the keep Britain tidy brigade! :D

  • On the subject of wombling does anyone know how many receipts is considered by tesco to be taking the !!!!!!? I just got 250points worth across 3 receipts. I will split them onto different cards but I just wondered how many additional receipts those who got wombling warnings from tesco were adding to their accounts.

  • There was someone on here who had a letter from Tescos regarding the high level of manual clubcard points being added by CS. Coupon-mad was that you ? I have looked in my local store but I never seem to find any to use, obviously my local branch is receipt aware !

  • You need to look for the Tesco cashiers who whip their own clubcards out of their pockets and use them when the customer doesn't have one. Imagine how many points they have!!!

Surely they could get sacked for that?

Not worth it for some clubcard points
  • Whilst I wouldn't pursue the act of wombling myself (purely because I am too lazy) can I just make a quick point on the morality of this pursuit to those who seem to find it immoral/illegal.
Tesco budget for this 'discount' (ie 1%), this cost is built in to their costs and if people throw the receipts away without claiming the points that is merely an extra 1% on Tesco's profits (you are not stealing from Tesco !)

When the 'vouchers for schools' promotion is on I have been offered the school vouchers from the customer in front at the till who has declared no interest in them (offered by the till assistant). Is that stealing from Tesco ?
Clearly not as they build this promotion in to the price.
This is precisely the same as someone deciding they do not wish to partake in the clubcard scheme - the discount has already been accounted for in the price !!!!!!!!!

    Nuff said.
  • I can't see a problem with this myself if Tesco said I will give you back 1p coin for every pound spent and then people throw away these pennies in the carpark I can't see picking them up would be a crime.

Obviously Tesco know this happens - large abusers will be caught out but it is not worth the effort for checking everone.
Lots of people don't always carry a Clubcard (some older people included) and they may (or family member) go in once a month to add all their clubcard points up.
