Exercise at least 3 times a week challenge

Hi All,
Great to see so many new people joining the challenge.
Well I am back on track and have completed another week of high intensity interval training. This has been offered at a local gym, subsidised by my employer. You basically go three times a week and work out under the supervision of a trainer. I have to say I have never pushed myself so hard. Everytime it seems to be getting a bit easier, my targets are raised.
I feel like I am really making progress, but I am absolutely shattered! SandyC did you feel like this this at first? When did you start getting more energy?

Sorry I haven't read through all the posts...my PC is being very temperemental and hanging between pages so I'd spend a whole just on this thread! I'd love to join but just wondered what you class as 'exercise', how long you do each week. I do a belly dance class once a week - does that count? I've also just re-joined the gym and will do at least once a week there. I'm also trying to do more at home...I have pilates DVD and I hula hoop most days. Just not sure what counts as 1 session...when I hoop I may not do that long but I read that 10 mins hooping is 100 calories and I usually do 15-20 mins0

Well I've done fairly well on the exercise front this week:
Monday - 1 x EA Sports Active Workout and 30 mins on treadmill
Tuesday 30 mins treadmill
Wednesday 1 x EA Sports Active Workout
Friday - 1 x EA Sports Active Workout and 30 mins on treadmill
Saturday 1 x 1 hour walk in country park
Sunday 30 minutes treadmill
Fairly pleased with that but I'll see how the scales react when I weigh in on Tuesday:cool:0 -
Anything counts Ellay! The thing is you can do a session of something for half an hour and okay someone else can be doing something for an hour or more, but it all counts and every bit spurs you forward to doing more. Or that's how it was with me.
Jess I started out really quite slowly so nothing as intense as interval training. Yes, would've been shattered too and maybe inclined to give up if I didnt' see results. As it was it was months before I started seeing anything happen but because I eased myself into and was actually enjoying it pushing myself was feeling better than giving up, if that makes sense. I'm now at the point where people ask me what I've been doing (weight watchers, slimming world etc) and I don't think they believe my results are entirely down to exercise, but stuff em. Except for reduction in alcohol intake that is.
I still feel quite exhausted by Friday night but it's a good feeling. Had I pushed too hard early days I'm not entirely sure I would still be doing it (and then some) 1 year later.
But we are all different!0 -

Hi,
Welcome Shezam.
My three done for this week. I am going to fit another one in tomorrow to make 4.
My gym membership ends at the end of March (same time as my redundancy) and the price has doubled (Total Fitness) I need to check out the local gym which I am hoping will be cheaper.
For those of you who use a gym, which clubs are you a member of?

I just go to the gym at my local leisure centre, very small council one. It's great for me as not many people use it...there's just 2 treadmills, 2 steppers, 1 rowing machine, 1 cross-trainer, 2 bikes...and then one each of the weights/resistance machines. It costs under £4 per session and at the moment they're doing 4 months for £60 which includes £15 induction so 3 visits a month works out cheaper for the pass. I looked at 'posher' gyms but got scared by the price tag and also quite intimidated by so many younger fit people in there0

Grrrr just when I was being good...re-joined gym on Sunday, went again on Tuesday, done hooping/pilates on Wednesday and Thursday...was all set for the gym again last night when I had my car rammed into as I drove home. Rested last night but woke up this morning in more pain and have spent the past 3 hours at A&E. No serious damage but been told pain will get worse before it gets better and to avoid my dancing and gym for at least a few days...though in some cases it may take 6 weeks
I feel jinxed!!!0 -
Oh Ellay864 I know how you feel. Last summer I started going regularly to the gym, then stubbed my toe - and broke it. Was out of action for weeks. Hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
Managed 4 times this week - so feeling quite pleased with myself. Also, the scales showing a few pounds off this morning - hooray!

Sorry to hear about that Ellay, what a setback! But, it won't be forever, you need to do exactly as they say and rest up so that you don't cause any further damage. Before you know it you'll get back on track.
Is there anything that you can do - swimming for example?0
