  • I have had a nightmare trying to get an authentic pair of ghds. I wanted a purple set and found loads on the websites. They were cheaper than the shops and I thought I would go for it, a bargain. It will probably come back and smack me in the face!!!
I paid for them via paypal and the next thing the website has gone down, gutted, I realised something was not right. I felt sorry for myself and found a shop that had them for sale. After a chat with them I believe they won't be authentic, so bought some from them and they are authentic, registered and I will be using them for the first time tonight.
If these other straighteners bought from the website come, are they fake or not, if they are I will want to get rid of them, any ideas how I can go about it?
If only I found this site before I bought them I could have saved myself from all this.
Hey was it the pink ghds you purchased?
Thank god I've found this thread as I was thinking about purchasing them from gohaironline.com.
    What did ghd say?
  • Click here for a deal i posted just now. (Don't know if this is against the rules but i'm just trying to save everybody some pennies and save myself sometime by not posting all the details again :D)

BEST THING YOU CAN DO WITH THEM IS CONTACT PAY PAL FOR YOUR MONEY BACK. YOU MAY HAVE TO SEND THEM BACK TO THE COMPANY AND PAY FOR THE POSTAGE YOURSELF BUT THEN PAY PAL SHOULD REFUND YOU.
    HOPE YOU GET IT SORTED
  • Please note that if you have been unfortunate enough to purchase fake GHD straighteners and you paid through Paypal, they will do nothing. They say they only will investigate if you don't receive the goods. Please be very careful. DO NOT BUY FROM shoppingghd.com
  • Thanks for that. I have emailed the sender and received a sob story, so I am now constructing my reply, then I will be contacting paypal. Will update with developments.;)

    Hi

I hope you get on ok. What happened with me was the company ignored me when I mailed them about returning the item. I had paid by credit card and the bank advised me to post the straighteners back. I then sent all my e-mails and proof of posage to my credit card company who refunded me. The only think I was out of pocket for was the postage I had paid to send them back.

Keep me posted how you get on and good luck.
  • Unfortunately, PAYPAL will only refund if items are bought through e-bay. I have approached paypal to blacklist shoppingghd.com because they sell fake ghd straighteners but they say they cannot do anything as I bought directly ffrom the company. I am challenging them to blacklist this company and to discourage people from buying from them. it is my intention to have this website closed down. shoppingghd.com of course - not THIS one. its great! x
  • Unfortunately, Paypal will only take up your case if you bought through e-bay. Apart from that, you are on your own (unless you did not receive the item). I have contacted Paypal and asked them to review their policies re fake goods. The least they could do is set up a list of companies not to buy from for our attention.

Question how do you spot a fake set of GHDs? I've been offered a set for £60, the pink set with free case and heat matt, have seen the box and everything looks genuine. They are being offered by a family member who is in the hairdressing trade so I'm thinking they are safe. I have Salon stylers already and adore them, but have just had my hair cut shorter with a fringe and think the smaller set would be better for styling. Advice please anyone?
