The sub board title for this thread says 'this board is for health-related money saving'.

Just to play devil's advocate, can anyone point to the last post on the thread which had the SLIGHTEST relevance to the saving of money?

The usual suspects will now raise a clamour at my meanness and cold-heartedness etc etc - but, in all honesty, does a thread like this REALLY belong on the website..?

You must have felt crap having to get up at 6am.

I have to wait to put the place up for sale, then wait till it sells, so likely to be around April if it sells quickly. Too blooming long:mad:

It's her clothes dryer! There is only a plaster board wall between her bedroom and mine - she has the dryer in her bedroom (?!) Worst thing lying in bed some nights I can hear the scraping sound of something metal like buttons or clasps going round in the drum. Ah well I'll win the lottery soon :)

I've realised that alcohol is poison to me.
I just to be able to drink fine.
I don't really drink now - just always driving or dieting so don't want to.
But when I think back - every time i drink now something terrible happens.
I ended up on the floor with an ambulance crew trying to talk me back a couple of years ago - long story.
Last week i got drunk with an army mate (mates since we were 11) - we had our first ever row.
Last nite i only had 2 pints but was quite rude to the workmate i was with then came home and fell out with a good friend on here.

A horrible (but truthful) me comes out when i drink. I may be an alcohollic that doesn't drink?

The threads in which I have been suicidal are directly related to moneysaving - I wouldn't have much earning power if I did kill myself. Plus, I hear funerals are very expensive

Well if we could bottle all that milk of human kindness you've got we could all make money.

Christ almighty - have you got no soul
This is about the only thread that should exist
The rest is just meaningless prattle

If you think you have a problem with alcohol, then you are an alcoholic. Might be best if you stop all together?

Hi Liz. Well I guess it's inevitable in a community as big as MSE, that threads are bound to stray beyond the original brief. Many threads besides this one would be guilty of that. But to answer your question, I would say that if having the opportunity to share experiences and difficulties here means that people don't need to fork out on expensive medication or other treatments, then yes, I suppose that is 'money saving' in the broader scheme of things.

Hi there - before I start- I am NOT looking for medical advice, just other peoples experiences of suffering with depression.

I was diagnosed with depression in about 2000, and have been on a variety of anti-depressants. I'm currently in the process of changing from Paroxetine to Venlefaxine.

However, I struggle enormously with day to day life, and have done for years. I can never wake up in the morning, and had major problems with this when I was working, despite having 7- yes SEVEN alarm clocks! I just wouldn't hear them. I find it difficult to get motivated to do anything, and over the last few years, have found it extraordinarily hard to apply myself, or to concentrate on things. Before the baby came along, I would lock myself away for days on end, and just sleep.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

To anyone wondering why there is this thread.

This was the first post which was written back in June. How come you are questioning the thread now?

I didn't start this thread but my money saving theory is:

Depression costs the country/NHS millions, due to people find it difficult to go out to work to earn money or even function. It also costs them for their prescriptions too. The costs of mental hospitals and the sick leave from work has to come from somewhere. It is in our interest to support each other when someone is feeling life is overwhelming.

If we can support each other, help even one person, rebuild their life, so they can go to work or not depend on so many pills which must cost a fortune.
