I actually had a really successful claim in May 2009 when I dropped my iPhone 3GS and smashed the screen. They replaced the screen pretty quickly (although the replacement glass was a little different, and not as good) and it was an easy process.
I've literally just dropped it again. When I took out the policy, it said the first claim would be £25 and the second £50. The most recent terms state £75 for an iPhone claim now. I shall call them tomorrow and try to get the cheaper rate. Fingers crossed for another smooth transaction (and fingers crossed they can no longer fix a 3GS and will give me a 4S instead!).0 -
I updated my details about 6 weeks ago, and yesterday lost my phone, I have phoned them this morning and they have said that my phone has not been registered.
I have had this policy for years without claiming?0 -
I may be a bit late on this but I hope somebody reads it anyhow.
I am leaving Barclay's Lifestyle Group's Mobile Phone Insurance.
Why?
Day 1, you call and claim.
Day 2, they send a claim form in the post.
Day 4, you receive the claim form.
Day 5, you send the claim form.
Day 6, there is a weekend in here somewhere.
Day 8, they process your post, and there is a three day waiting period for them to make their decision.
Day 12, they post their response.
Day 14, you receive instructions on how/where to send your phone.
Day 15, you post your phone.
Day 16, another weekend?
Day 18, they receive your phone.
Day 19, they proces their post - they now have twelve business days to act - that means 2.5 weeks almost.
Day 35, they've completed and they post back your phone or replacement.
Day 37, you receive your phone.
Are you willing to wait that long?
I called, demanded an e-mail version. This took one day to process. I called about my claim and they said it was approved but it would take another day to e-mail the response. I shaved some time off of it but come on - it isn't worth it.
Seriously.
They never mentioned a loan phone...

Day 1. I returned the claim form by printing and signing and scanning into pdf to send back
Day 2. claim approved - need to fill out another form and send the phone back

I've also joined the forum to share my experience with this firm. I'm so glad to see at least one person say that they've chosen an alternative insurance provider based on what they've read here, and hopefully that person will be one of many.
My phone was stolen at 11:40pm on Easter Sunday. On Easter Monday I called up my mobile phone company and reported the phone as stolen. I also phoned the insurance company and they sent out the forms (second class). On Tuesday, I reported the incident to the police. I was in no rush to inform the theft to the police because the day after the theft was Easter Monday, and a minor crime like a phone theft would have been ignored or stalled. Additionally, whether you report the phone as stolen to your mobile phone provider or to the police, the serial number still ends up on the same database.
So when the forms arrive, I fill them out to the best of my ability. They ask for a delivery receipt to prove that the phone belongs to me. Twenty months into my contract, I no longer have that delivery receipt, so I use my initiative and take a photocopy of the original mobile phone box, which has all the serial numbers printed on the side.
I send the forms off (first class) and wait. After five days, I was wondering where my phone was, so I rang up the company to find out. They told me that they had sent out a letter (second class), informing me that the claim had been dismissed because I didn't report the theft to the police within 24 hours. Well no, I didn't, because it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. But I did report it to my phone company immediately, and report it to the police on the first working day after the theft.
So I sent an e-mail to the appeals department (apparently every Tom, !!!!!! and !!!!!!!! gets their own department in this infantile company) asking them to reconsider my claim for the obvious reasons I already mentioned.
I call the company the next day, because I still hadn't received a dispatch e-mail for the new phone, and this time they decide to let me off for not informing the police quickly enough, but unfortunately I failed to provide sufficient proof that the phone was mine. (Not that they cared when I took out the insurance.)
So then I had to call my phone company and ask them to send a copy of what they call a proof of purchase to my e-mail. Two days and I'm still waiting. When I finally get the e-mail, I'll forward it to LSG and wait for the next excuse.
I really appreciate this thread. It's nice to get these things off your chest and know that you're not the only one in this rotten situation. But a warning to any prospective customers: unless you like interacting with very frustrating and very stupid people, you might like to take your custom elsewhere.
Best,

Also registered on here just to rant....
I thought I had insuance cover for my iphone 4 through my Barclays current account. I thought it was good value for money. My phone was correctly registered with LSG. It got water damage and because I did not want to claim on the insurance if not necessary, I took it too the 3 mobile shop to get some advice. They said I should claim on my insurance, so I then made a claim. I spoke to somoene and gave them all the details of when and what happened, got sent a claim form, filled it in and sent it off. The claim was rejected because it was not made within 48 hours. I have a 6 month old daughter so lifes a bit full to have time to read every T&C! So basically for being honest about when the damage happened I am out of pocket. I appealed and there was no reply...I phoned them and apparently the letter is in the post. Because the insurance is through Barclays it seems there is no come back to LSG. Barclays don't care because its a seperate company. LSG don't care because I don't pay them. Perhaps if enough people complain Barclays will change provider but it will be too late to stop me changing banks!0 -
I have made a claim for my iphone 4, and having similar problems to others.. ie. the stupid 48 hour rule!!
Im having difficulty finding their contact no., and they dont mention it on their letter (surprise surprise!).
Please could somebody inform me the number they used to speak to this Lifestyle Services Group?
Or should i be calling /complaining to Barclays?
Thanks in advance.0
