after chasing up my wine voucher i have since recieved the following secure messages from smile...
" I've checked the dates for you. As you applied for your account on 20th August You will receive your wine code email by 21st November. These will be sent out to all customers who applied in that time period at the same time. "
then after chasing it up again last week just to keep them on their toes;
" I can confirm that you have done everything required to qualify for the wine offer. You will receive the email with your wine voucher code by 21st November. "
.....Well this still leaves 2 days for my voucher to finally arrive...fingers crossed! i'll let you all know if they arrive!
p.s i notice many who have recieve the vouchers have ordered a 'smile' case of wine. i cannot find this on the virgin website. is it hidden somewhere?

I've been meaning to switch to Smile for ethical reasons for months and just not got round to it. But now, having banked with First Direct for over 10 years, their decision to introduce the £10 charge has given us the kick up the bum we need to close our account with them...
And now, there's no 12 free bottles of wine on offer!
Anyone think they're likely to repeat it any time soon?0 -
This is at least the 4th time they've done this offer, and as the last one was quite a while ago now I'd be surprised if they don't do it again soon - hopefully before the First Direct charges start to kick in.0

I've just had an e-mail from a friend about Smile -Recommend a friend to smile by forwarding the below e-mail onto them, and both you and your friend will get 12 bottles of wine each if they go on to open a smile current account†.
It's easy too, you can recommend up to 3 friends (meaning you could make up to 36 bottles of wine) by forwarding the below message onto your friends, not forgetting to mention how great it is to be a smile customer.
Thanks

I'm seriously thinking about it - my current current account (!!) is with HSBC which is a pointless rate of interest, plus I find it difficult getting banking cheques as there are none particularly locally, whereas with the Smile account you can use the post office. Just one question though. The terms state:† wine offer terms and conditions
smile recommend a friend wine promotion ends 31st December 2006. All current account applications must be made and opened within 4 weeks of the dispatch of this email. Wine qualification upon first credit transaction of £1500 minimum within 8 weeks of your account being opened. Wine redemption code will be dispatched no later than 4 weeks after the date of qualification. A delivery charge of £5.99 is payable upon order of wine. This offer is only available to customer who are residents in the UK (except the Channel Islands and Jersey). This offer is not open to previous or existing customers of smile. smile has the right to withdraw the offer at any time.
Does the £1500 have to be put in in one lump? Or can I put in several cheques/transfers to make the value up to £1500?0 -
This is great! All I need now is to find a friend who banks with them. Thanks for the tip off.0

I have now asked Smile to close my account, as they still insist I did not credit the account in time for the wine offer, even though my money was there before 1st October. What a nusiance.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
