I'm snowbound as well  and have not been outside since the snow came down on Tuesday, haven't managed to get to work and am having to take carers leave as the twins' school is closed too.

I have severe lower back problems and a dodgy right hip so I daren't slip/fall over! I can see my car and know that at the end of the road the conditions are better, but I daren't even try and get to my car because of the snow and ice let alone try and drive it a mile down the road!

Luckily my shopping arrived on Tuesday pm so I'm stocked up for a week.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe xx

I've been in since Tuesday, as well.

Thankfully, I got my shopping on Monday, as I had read we would be in for a fair bit of snow.

At least my DDs can still go to friends/have them round, as the schools here are shut too.

I think the fear of falling, when you have problems [mine are hip and lower back too] is really high, so you are reluctant to go out, due to the damage a fall can cause :(

I'm staying in for the duration I think, though, just in case.

Im going stir-crazy today and have retreated to my bedroom to escape my 4 kids. My house is a tip and my back is really bad so too bad! I think its set in for a few days so not sure what we will do. DD has her A2 exams next week so im hoping she can get back to college by then. We are going to try and get her in tomorrow for revision sessions but dont hold out much hope.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Could we start a campaign do you think?

After all, by Not gritting pavements we are being discriminated against ...

(honestly, I'm not usually militant, just getting a bit stir-crazy)

    Done!

I am :( My arthritis is giving me a lot of grief and I daren't risk going out (I suffer from hypermobility, particularly in my knees). My partner is taking the dogs for their daily walks but even they don't get as much time as they usually do because he works nights. Thank God we have quite a large garden.

There are far more people who are much worse off than us lot on here and they cant get out and about even when the weather is fine, so I do feel its a little insensitive to moan about a bit of snow, especially in this day and age when items can be bought online, we can talk to people on line, TV isnt so bad etc.

"Than us lot"? What's up with you, then? And yeah, half the time in good weather I can't get out, so in bad weather I can't go out at all, which gives me a perfect right to complain when I have to do things that cannot be done online, like posting international packages.

Did you just call me snide on another thread?

Can I ask....what have I done to upset you?

Phrasing your post like you're trying to make everyone in this thread feel guilty for complaining because they can't go out in this weather, that's what. I don't think it's fair to anyone here to say that. You have no idea how ill the other people who've posted in the thread might or might not be, and you're making assumptions, which isn't fair at all.

Homemade, I do appreciate that there are people worse off than me, who don't only have problems when the weather is bad. But The state of the pavements affects my ability to earn a living. It isn't enough for me to get my shopping delivered, chat to folks online, and watch telly. It's my BUSINESS which is being affected.

I'm supposed to making arrangements to meet a potential new client. I can't make an appointment, cos I don't know if I will be able to get from my car to their offices to meet them.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

My daughter walks with crutches as she has a disability, it doesn't stop her going to college but she does have difficulty getting down a our small steep driveway to the taxi that picks her up. We live in town but on a hill and off beaten track so we dont get any help just a grit bin.

Our local council are now using sand from beach on the pavements as just down the road its treacherous on pavements, it makes hell of a difference using sand
