I do hope that many of you have planned ahead re your essential stocks. Please don`t rest on your laurels, next step is temporary blockages of energy supplies to some industries and perhaps followed by short time working. Look at the first thread ` if times get tough` as we are about to have a bit of a re-play

this is my opening post now. I cannot go without forewarning as I do care about how people are coping

Sorry Kittie but you can't state unequivocally in your OP that "next step is temporary blockages of energy supplies to some industries and perhaps followed by short time working." I really don't think that any of us are qualified to make that statement as fact.

And there really is no need for you to go anywhere. icon7.gif

If you listen to today's edition of Radio 4 Today Programme, you'll hear an excellent explaination of the "energy blockage" situation ;)

AFAIR, somne industries have opted for a lower tarrif for gas, in exchange for a term in the contract that allows for the gas supply to be restricted, if necessary. The man at a Liverpool Bbrewery who they interviewed said that he could have gas if he wanted under those circumstances, but it would be at a much, much higher tarrif, so he was using oil. His brewery was unaffected.

Can you give us a link to industries who are on short time, please, kittie

I am saddened by the fact that we cannot simply accept the people will disagree!
Wherever you are Kittie, be it OS or anywhere else on MSE, or another forum, you will find people offering alternative views and disagreeing- this is human nature, and actually helps things move forward!
Leave OS if you feel you have good reason, but I really hope that reason is not simply because we didn't all agree with you or bow to your supreme wisdom.
Anyway, good luck in your journey, whatever you may choose to do. You are welcome here anytime imho, but just don't expect everyone to automatically agree with you (or disagree either lol).

Plinths are the moveable strips under the kitchen cupboards. Not a bad place to hide things either, I suppose. I haven`t used mine yet but never say never

My kitchen is freezing and draughty (single brick skin extension with cold cellar underneath) , so I've insulated the undercupboard spaces on outside walls. So no food storage space left there, but kitchen is just a bit more comfortable.
