Is it possible/good idea to freeze sliced meat (ala bernard matthews type ham or turkey etc but not bernards as his tastes like yuk!)?? The ones where u have like 5 slices of ham in a packet... could i just bung it in the freezer then get it out when needed and let it defrost in fridge???? I always find when i do a tesco delivery shop, the 14year old spotty 'erbert who "Deleted_User" my shopping always finds me the shortest dates in the warehouse, especially on these sliced meats! As i only use them for my sons sandwiches etc, i dont always manage to use up all the packets before use by date and *shock horror* sometimes have to throw them away! Then it occurred to me, maybe i could just bung the excess ones in the freezer.........
So...? Anyone do this?Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
I regularly freeze pre-packed meats with no problems. Obviously you can't do this if it's been previously frozen.
There's an earlier thread with more advice:

I'll add your thread to it later to keep the replies together.

I also freeze pre-packed meats regularly and have had no problems at all. In fact, we have only recently finished all the reduced meats we bought at Christmas (£2.47 down to 30p) - OH used them for his packed lunch.
ETA: OP just noticed you live in Worcs. We live in the next county.
