Does anyone know if i am able to freeze a packet of Tesco's smoked sliced ham, I appear to have received a pack of 20 slices as well as my 10 slices in the shopping which has just been delivered (I have not been charged for it ;) ).

It doesn't say anything on the packet not to freeze but doesn't say that you can either, we won't go through both packets before the best before date.

    Hi jjef,

There's an older thread on this that should help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the replies together.

I regularly freeze shop bought ham with no problems, if it doesn't say on the pack not to freeze then it should be fine.

Ham doesn't stay around long enough in my house to need freezing lol

Ds1 eats it on toast for breakfast and in sandwiches for lunch i can't stand it.

    Hi keza,

I freeze pre-packed ham all the time if I pick it up reduced and it's fine providing it hasn't been previously frozen. I would say though that it's best used within one month as I have found it's prone to freezer burn if it's left much longer.

There's an existing thread discussing this so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

How about defrosting before eating? Should it be defrosted overnight in the fridge perhaps.....I like the idea of freezing ham, though my dogs will definately not be happy bout that, but don't want to risk giving DH food poisoning. Well, not until I've put his life insurance up anyway.
