I bought my fiancee a mag subscription which has worked out cheaper as he no longer looks at the mag section when we go shopping
MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different
  • In 2009, I stopped buying magazines, other than when they have an exceptional offer, eg when Red had £30 off at Coast, or a freebie I'd want anyway which is more pricey than the magazine itself, eg Marie Claire giving away a £7 L'Occitane hand cream I already use.

This year, I'll continue with this, and my new pledge is to give up cheap, nasty chocolate which is full of vegetable fat, bad for you and leaves a nasty after taste and texture in the mouth, eg Cadburys. I do buy more pricey chocolates but it means I eat less so it lasts longer and works out cheaper because it's so rich I only need a small bit. Eg I used to get through 2 bars of cheap choc a day, now I take a month to work through a whole bar of Green & Blacks.

Hello, Thank you for your joining us!

Now only buying on sale equating to only buying an item when it is not full price
Interesting but I think you'll have to define it further to help to keep track of it & for motivation factor: food/clothes/makeup/...
... however buying lots of stuff on sales may be defeating the object?? :rotfl:says me who just before Christmas blew a lot of money on absolutely essential (?) jackets (x2) because they were such a steal. Yes I am in penitence now

    Ok to clarify

i buy a lot of beads i'm like a magpie lol and some beads like artisan lampwork you can pay over £1-£150 per bead (i make jewellery for occupational therapy for my cerebral Palsey) I can't totally stop buying beads or i cannot continue the occupational therapy, but i want to buy less beads and only buy beads that are on sale rather than pay £1 to £1.50 per bead.

To try and use up beads i have here before buying any more ( had £54 worth of gemstone beads bought for me for xmas from my family helped lol)

oooh I like the sound of this challenge, can I join? I'd like to give up buying lunch at uni/work as I always have more than enough food in my house and its annoying laziness that means i pay £3-£5 a day for food 5/6 days a week!

new pledge is to give up cheap, nasty chocolate

Is it me or Cadburys chocolate smells of cheese. Seriously

I do love cheese but not when my chocolate smells like it:rotfl:
